Judith Gaton · Maison Gaton

Madame J is the head of the agency. She has opinions about everything, and the life experience to back up her opinions. She is always gracious when doling out her wisdom, just as she doles out the detective assignments to her fellows. Writing her has allowed me to find my way back to some beautiful dreams and imaginary rambles long forgotten. I hope reading about her and the rest of her crew will do the same for you.

Every good mystery begins before you know it’s a mystery. This one begins on an overnight train somewhere between where we started and where we thought we were going.

She’s back. And she has questions. The chortler has been identified. The widow has been assessed. And Madame J has two hours before the locals muck everything up.

She’s still on the train. The clock is ticking. And she’s just found the man she’s been looking for. The Chortler has been located. The widow has been assessed. The man in the fedora has been dispatched. And the mysterious assenter is about to have a very interesting morning.

The Chortler has been found. The Assenter has been cornered. And Amelia Barnes is nowhere to be found.

She found her. Amelia was waiting in the baggage car, sitting on top of an enormous steamer trunk, entirely ready to be found. This is the final installment of Chortler on a Train. But the Maison Gaton house is always open. And Madame J will be back.
