The Maine Crafts Association is partnering with the Scarborough Public Library to present the Library Artist Series, a year-long program featuring workshops, demonstrations, talks, and hands-on experiences led by Maine artists and makers.
Programs will be offered between July 2026 and June 2027 during the library’s regular operating hours, giving community members the opportunity to learn directly from local artists while exploring a wide range of creative practices.
Programs are free for participants, open to all experience levels, and designed for a library or classroom setting. The library welcomes proposals in a variety of formats, including hands-on workshops, artist talks, live demonstrations, interactive presentations, community projects, and multi-session classes. Programs may range from 45-minute presentations to half-day workshops or multi-session classes, and may be designed for all ages or specific audiences, such as children, teens, adults, or families.
We encourage proposals that are interactive, accessible, and adaptable to a public library setting with minimal specialized equipment.
Artists interested in participating are invited to complete the application below. Presenters will receive a stipend of up to $500, depending on the length and scope of the program, as well as workshop material needs.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed throughout the year as programming is scheduled. Program selections will be based on the library’s calendar, seasonal opportunities, audience interests, and complementary programming. Completing an application does not guarantee a booking but allows the library to build a diverse roster of artists for future opportunities.
The Library Artist Series is presented through a partnership between the Maine Crafts Association and the Scarborough Public Library, and is supported in part by the Maine Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
