A jolly time was had by all on our table this week. Resplendent Rod, M and A were together and we had a fun time. I won a few games quite quickly to begin with and poor A didn’t win any at all although she did get to fishing a few times. It’s luck of the draw at that point. My old set needs a clean, I’ve spotted tiny dots of what must be dirt from finger grease on a few of them. God knows when they were last individually cleaned. I’ll get some wipes for them. A Sunday chore I think. I had an up and down week last week, some good days some bad days but that’s probably because hubster was away in Victoria doing the ANZAC march with his brother and other siblings and seeing his mum. I am still proud of him for having been in the navy, what was it, 27 years? And, I couldn’t help falling in love with that Chief Petty Officer in his whites one ANZAC morning service in the Marshall Islands. Yes,it’s that old story about the red undies. If you don’t know it, I’m not about to tell it again (today). It might embarrass hubster too much.

Of course, ANZAC day means so much to so many people. I’m just grateful that both my brother and hubster have seen active service and retuned home.
We played two goulashes today on our table. Do you need the rules for a goulash? Perhaps another week when there’s not much news.
This week’s column has a memoir piece in it and a lovely photo of my late Nanna. The link is

and although this takes you to this week’s submission, you can catch up with past column entries of mine at the bottom of the page. I promise a short story for next week…
Back on the losing weight train here. I lose it I gain it I lose it I gain it over and over. Not good for the diabetes but I’ll keep on trying. Now, on the weight loss thing, as a hypnotherapist it’s hard for me to find another good hypnotherapist to hypnotise me but I found a supremely excellent app that I can strongly recommend. Most online apps and YouTube ‘hypnosis’ sessions are no more than guided imagery and do very little except relax you. HOWEVER this app uses specific hypnotic language patterns and the sessions are effective. I’ve been using the app to help me get my head around food and eating in a more beneficial way. The app doesn’t just do weight loss, it has a variety of topics/subjects to choose from. It’s called HYPNOZIO. I love the female voice on it. She sounds Finnish but speaking in English. Very hypnotic.
It’s a good alternative to face to face hypno, really! I’ll be using the sleeping ones soon too.
Still seeing clients for psychotherapy/clinical hypnotherapy one day a week but the writing is coming along a charm and taking up more of my time. What bliss and joy.
I had a 12 hour poetry competition the other weekend and I’ve been doing the Poem A Day challenge this month with The Writer’s Digest. Got some good work out. Here’s one of them...
FAN
My dog walked into a fan today
A long stand fan
The dappled afternoon light too difficult
For her cloudy eyes
She stood confused among
The legs of chairs in the outdoor restaurant
Will I falter in soft light when I age?
I am aging
Does my dog have existential knowledge
Of life’s patterns and timeline?
If not, is it simply the present moment
That guides her?
My 93 year old grandmother
in her failing light still pushed on
Dropped jugs of milk
Knocked over objects left out
But she took great comfort
In her soft responsive robotic dog
In my dotage will I recall
The splendid dogs of my life
And in the dimming of the day
Run my fingers through artificial fur
Listen to the different barks
Reacting to my voice
And wait for darkness?
Ah yes, my Nanna features again. She’s never very far from my thoughts. It’s hard to let go of a daily habit, even three years later.

JEAN’S MEDLEY - a red and green dragon with four mixed chows
CRAZY CHOWS - four mixed chows with a knitted pair
DRAGONFLY - All the dragons, a pair in any suit and a pung in each suit
WINDY CHOWS - All the winds, an extra wind and a chow in each suit.
WIND VANE- All the winds, an extra wind and a pung in each suit (no punging from the centre)
ORDINARY MAHJONG - four pungs of honours (winds or dragons) and/or a single suit with a pair

MAHJONG TRIVIA
I MADE A MISTAKE in my understanding of one of the rules a couple of weeks ago. I wish to rectify this. YOU CAN KONG on a revealed pung. There you are, nothing spectacular in trivia this week, let’s see what I can find for next week. Remember to go to the magazine link if you have time and read this week’s column
