Now I've painted up the scavvy king and completed the entire Confrontation range, I've uploaded some catalogue style images of the full range. I'll take some scenic and full gange pics in due course, but for now, I hope you'll enjoy seeing the entire Confrontation range painted and in one place at the same time!
Back in 2014, when I pulled out some old Bratt miniatures and painted them anew, I didn't imagine that it was the start of a Confrontation obsession that has lasted twelve years. In that time, I have reacquired some old Confrontation favourites, hunted down unreleased miniatures and build a nice little collection of original Confrontation artwork. The scavvy king is the last of the 83 'official'…
Back in 2016, my good friend Asslessman painted up one of Jes Goodwin's Nurgle champions as part of his scavvy gang . The idea has stuck with me ever since, and I've blatently copied it (with his blessing!). Read more »
Back in 2018 or 2019, our Necromunda group played a big multiplayer rolling road game - everyone mounted their gang in one or more vehicles. Jason used an old beat-up 40k civilian truck he'd made as scenery some time previously. The paint job was tired, it was missing a wheel, a mudguard and the entire rear section was detached, but it served the purpose in speeding his gang around the board.…
Many of you will be aware of Bring Out Your Lead (BOYL), the annual Oldhammer event that has been hosted by Wargames Foundry since 2013. Unfortunately, due to a change in circumstances, this year's event will not be happening, leaving a gap in the calendar. Happily, the guys behind Lead & Steel and Wardollies Collective are hosting a Bootleg BOYL taking place in Nottingham on Saturday 8 August. A…
I'm certain that scavvies would try and recruit an ogryn into their gang if at all possible. Assuming they can scrounge up enough food to keep it fed that is! Lech the outcast ogryn with his trusty chainaxe. Read more »
Three more scavvies to swell the ranks. This time its another trio of unreleased Jes Goodwin sculpts. Once again brilliant figures and really enjoyable to paint with all the layered rags and fun accessories. Read more »
You can cut and paste all of the comments I made about scavvies and heavy stubbers to apply to scavvies with grenade launchers. Essentially it boils down to the fact that I wanted to make this figure and Lumpy Mo will get used in a variety of different games systems! Read more »
It wouldn't be right to have a Confrontation-era scavvy gang without including the beautiful unreleased scavvies from the masterful hands of Jes Goodwin. I'm lucky enough to have the complete set, so here are the first three to swell the ranks of the Sinkhole Boggarts. Read more »
Before anyone says anything, I know scavvy gangs can't have heavy stubbers. But cool figures trump rules restrictions, and Bang-Bang Alys is perfectly usable in N18 hive scum gangs or Stargrave crews! Read more »
Building on the three scavvies from my last post, I wanted to add in some cool characters to the gang. Obviously the Scavvy King will make an appearance down the line, but he can't be the only scavvy of note. That's where Papa Zhon comes in. I picked up the palanquin-less Nurgle champion an age ago, and he's been patiently waiting for the right project to come along. I reckon a motorised chair for…
After several months of painting Bob Olley figures, I wanted a bit of a break, so decided to get back on with the Confrontation scavvies. I've now just got the Citadel figures to do. These were sculpted by Jes Goodwin, with three seeing general release and a further seven being unreleased. Read more »
I've painted a fair few buildings over the last couple of years for my Hyam's Landing setting. These have pretty much all in the same style as the unreleased 40k habs I was lucky enough to pick up. The general vibe is space western / frontier town. The buildings are low-level, run-down & rusty! After painting the sheds/barns from the other week, I decided I wanted to pull together an out of town…
I love making and painting terrain. You get a lot of bang for your buck, and it's generally quick and imprecise, meaning you don't really need to concentrate too hard! I especially like when you can add cheap toys into the terrain collection. Read more »
Back to some incidental Star Wars characters and painting up Bob Olley sculpts where they just seem to fit! Here are Biggs Darklighter (deleted Tosche Station scene) and Orrimaarko AKA Prune Face. Painting up Biggs gave me a good excuse to have some fun with scene recreation: Read more »
Lando was always my favourite character from the original Star Wars trilogy. I particularly liked his guard outfit from Jabba's palace. That said, I've gone with the Cloud City vibe for my Bob Olley version of Lando, as it also allowed me to make Lobot. Read more »
This pair of Jedi have taken longer than I anticipated, but I'm happy to have completed my Bob Olley versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Like all of the other figures in this Olley Wars project, they are both based on sculpts by Bob Olley. Read more »
With several WIP figures from the rebellion sitting unfinished on my desk, I decided to get this pair of Olley Stormtroopers done quickly. Once again they are Kryomek Nexus SWAT troopers with ultra-fast paintjobs using mainly contrast paints. They give me a couple of extra options when building Stargrave lists or similar. Read more »
No, it's not the Emperor on the Golden Throne; it's the other one with the dark robe, weird eyes and lighting bolts shooting out of his hands! Read more »
I'll preface this post by saying that I have no plans to make 4-LOM. I'm drawing a blank on suitable base models sculpted by Bob Olley, so Zuckuss here will be my last bounty hunter! On the flip side, I'm very pleased with Zuckuss, given that a few weeks ago I was struggling to work out how I'd make him! Zuckuss & Dengar team up to track down a lucrative mark. Read more »
These should need no introduction after my first set of stormtroopers , just another group of Kryomek Nexus SWAT troopers. These are five different sculpts, again from the hands of Bob Olley, and again still available from Scotia Grendel. Read more »
After doing Boba Fett , the next obvious step was do to more of his peers. Doing all six of the bounty hunters from Empire Strikes Back isn't currently on the cards, but I had some decent ideas for a couple more of the motley crew. Awaiting details of the next target. Read more »
I think I said a few posts back that I had no intention of recreating the entire cast of Star Wars with Bob Olley miniatures. However, this is looking like a hollow claim, as I'm now actively working on a the bulk of the principle and supporting characters. I'm very pleased with my Boba Fett though! Read more »
It was inevitable that after painting up Darth Tevas, there were going to be Bob Olley stormtroopers. This six-strong squad is comprised of Kryomek Nexus SWAT troopers. They are classic Bob Olley sculpts from the early 1990s and are still available from Scotia Grendel . Read more »
I suspect that I'm now getting too deep into the 'Bob Olley does Star Wars' concept. But I'm OK with it! I definitely need an opposing Imperial force to face off against my rebels. It's the logical thing to do, right? First up are a couple of characters to lead the Imperials - Darth Tevas and General Viers. Darth Tevas remonstrates a pair of rebel commandos. Read more »
