In this article, I introduce you to a new feature of RAW THIRST for Paid Subscribers. Each month, on the first Saturday, you can enjoy the tunes from our legendary Steel Valley nightclub, 'Pit & Furnace', where you can listen along to regular mixes from our smokin’ hot DJ, Parker Gordon, who will be spinning the arousing thud of deep electro alongside short stories from the darkroom.
This series, put simply, is 'Music to fuck to.'
The pavement shudders underfoot long before the entrance. A squat chimney reaches into the overcast Steel Valley sky, a stark beacon for pleasure seekers. This is Pit & Furnace. A repurposed foundry where the deep bass isn’t just heard - it’s felt.
Step inside, and the air is thick and humid, the lights dimmed. The resident DJ spins a constant groove, an overwhelming presence, an electronic thrum that drowns out the world outside, inviting full immersion into its pulse. Here, the sticky floor grips your every step, and the scent of warm bodies, musk, and spilt beer foments a potent stew.
Under sweeping arcs of coloured lights, the main bar pulses. A long chipped concrete surface which gleams red from the neon sign above. Behind that surface, a friendly shirtless bartender awaits. The crowd at Pit & Furnace is a shifting tapestry: rubber kids and leather daddies, harnessed fuck boys and bodybuilders, older bears in vests, and locals still in their work-worn shirts and jeans. All are drawn to that same primal rhythm.
At the far end of this cavernous space, the legendary thick black curtain hangs. It beckons visitors, new and old, a silent invitation to those seeking deeper currents. People drift towards it in ones and twos, vanishing into its folds.
Behind a narrow corridor unfurls, barely lit by the spilt disco light from the main room and the occasional, fleeting glow of a watch face or phone screen. The rough walls close in. Deep electro from the main room muffles, allowing other sounds to emerge, less disguised: a soft **cough**, a wet **splutter**, the hungry **slurp** of a full mouth, and, from varying distances, irregular, resonant **moans** can be heard. That humid air, thick with the concentrated scent of exertion and raw desire, gives a palpable sense of something primal unfolding just out of sight.
Further on from this corridor, there is a back room, known affectionately as ‘The Pit’. It’s a low-ceilinged space, industrial beams crisscrossing overhead. A few battered benches and railings sit at the perimeter. Most bodies gravitate to the open floor where mattresses, slings, and podiums accommodate all shapes and sizes. ‘The Pit’ reeks of ripe musk, sweet precum mixed with lube, and a sting of poppers.
In this arena, rules are unwritten but deeply understood. Movement is constant. Consent is non-verbal: an unmistakable glance, a touch reciprocated. Voyeurs cling to the edges of the room, lurking, while hands, mouths, and bodies explore. Here, the week’s pressures truly evaporate into heat, bass and desire.
This is Pit & Furnace, where the grind of Steel Valley gets left behind.
The mixes are monthly. The stories are exclusive. Our first adventure in the club darkroom is up next.
Until next time,
— Magnus
