I'm Megan Carnes. I'm a composer, music implenter, and music-centric game director. I live in Chicago and I like cats, tarot, and vegetarian junk food. This ...
Since this is my first post in awhile, I could tell you about how for the past few months I’ve been having a lot more of these episodes. Episodes where my ears are full of cotton and my head is floating away and my heart has decided to take up tap dancing and my legs just won’t stop shaking. I could tell you about ice packs and doctor appointments and electrolytes and all the things I’ve missed…
My life has been exceptionally stupid lately. There were all the happenings I talked about in my two most recent posts and even more things since then. I decided to do a little gratitude writing exercise for myself using a format I made up. Not in a toxic positivity way, but in a "if I continue to only think about the bad things I will probably turn into a black hole of misery" way. It doesn't…
A few people have asked me for updates on the things I wrote about in my last 2 blog posts, so here they are! If you haven't read those yet, go do that, otherwise you'll have no idea what I'm talking about here. First post | Second post First of all, I made around $500 between Bandcamp sales and ko-fi donations from the initial post, and I am so, so grateful. It means so much to me that people…
Hi! Yesterday I made a post about a stray cat we took in named Arlo. We had his vet appointment today, and I'm so happy to say that his red blood cell count is looking so much better! He needs another course of steroids and antibiotics, but he's barely anemic now. Definitely not dangerously so. We'll take him back for another recheck in a month, but I can pretty confidently say that the little guy…
For those who want a TL;DR: took in an extremely sweet stray cat who turned out to be very sick, and then my husband was hospitalized a few days later (unrelated to the cat). These things will likely end up being super expensive. I have a Bandcamp if you want to buy some music or a ko-fi if you want to just throw a few bucks my way, and I'm always open for more composing or music implementation…
I was megancarnes dot blog for the past year, but Namecheap wanted more money than I wanted to spend to renew it. I also have been looking for ways to cut back on costs in general, so I decided to cancel my Bear subscription. This made me sad. I love Bear. But I hope to subscribe again once things are a bit more financially stable for me! Anyway, all that to say, I am once again…
Wishlist here! Divinuet is a project I've been working on since 2019. It's an interactive experience where tarot readings are accompanied by music. I've really poured my heart into it, and I really hope people like it! Even if you're not sure whether you want to buy it, wishlists help so much with Steam store algorithm visibility. And shares are of course appreciated as well. Thank you so much!…
This is part of my series of devlogs about my upcoming tarot music game Divinuet. Read them all here! Wow, I haven't written anything at all in almost 2 months. And it's been forever since I've done a Divinlog. To be honest, I was not doing well for awhile there. Nothing dire, just an overall dreariness, like all the color had been drained out of my life. It happens to me a lot in the winter…
a group of atoms (atoms forming molecules cells tissue organs person) wants you to know that they had another piece they were working on when a sex pest hides in leftist spaces do activism do immeasurable harm do more activism rinse repeat rinse repeat but old wounds often get the timing wrong the atoms don't want to do anything (even a tiny thing) that could undermine the movement they don't want…
I feel like I spent an entire year being tired. It probably has a lot to do with the current administration both being generally terrible and specifically doing terrible things in the city I call home (Chicago). I won't get into that much in this post, but just know that like a huge number of people in the US, it all weighed on me heavily all year. I will say though, that the way Chicago came…
