I help people whose words matter get out of their own way — technically, at least.
For years I’ve worked at the intersection of education, healthcare, and advocacy: coordinating patient care in one of the busiest hospital systems in New York, running my own ESL and career-coaching practice for over a decade, and serving in leadership at a youth empowerment NGO. Different rooms, same thread — helping people communicate clearly, get organized, and be understood when it counts.
I’m multilingual (English, Portuguese, and enough Spanish, German, and Italian to be dangerous), and I’ve spent a long time thinking about how peace and dignity actually get built — not just talked about. Lately that’s meant showing up for causes and voices I believe in, in whatever practical way is useful. Sometimes that’s advocacy. Sometimes it’s translation. Sometimes, it turns out, it’s untangling someone’s Substack dashboard so their writing doesn’t disappear into a black hole of drafts and comment threads.
What I can actually help with:
Substack setup and cleanup — publishing workflows, drafts vs. published posts, subscriber management, formatting, and making sure your archive actually reflects your work
Communications support — helping mission-driven people and organizations say what they mean, clearly, across languages
Education and coaching — ESL instruction, career coaching, and the kind of patient, structured teaching that comes from doing it for 12+ years
Care coordination know-how — the unglamorous but essential skill of keeping complex, many-moving-part things from falling apart
If you’re a writer, organizer, or advocate whose ideas are ahead of your tech setup, I’d like to help. Reach out — I mean that literally, not as a sign-off.
In kindness, Macela
