What Have We Done?

I am sitting here in disbelief. Are we safer now? Is the world safer now?

I scroll this morning’s New York Times pictures of both Iran and Israel children, dogs, families heading for bomb shelters. Yes people are in the streets in Iran but they don’t seem to be taking control of their freedom. They are gripping on to their existence with the tenacity of a forced collusion.

The thought lies in the back of my mind that our turn is next.

How can we as just regular people live under the banner of leaders of greed, corporate insanity?

America has become the Conquistadors of the 21st Century holding our Brand of Holy Acquisition in one hand and the Sword of Ignorant Intolerance in the other.

How did we as a world of seemingly rational human beings give away so much of our power? It’s like we all have been drugged by our ever day naive complicity.

Looking at the pictures of Iranian in the streets bemoaning the death of their religious leader, yes they have been living under what we have viewed as severe abject tyranny……but will these actions pull the veil from their eyes? To me it will only galvanize a belief system that leads to more suffering, more death, for what?

People are being left with no homes, no schools, no sense of safety because of a handful of people who have decided that they need to believe differently, see things as they see them, and even worse yet profiting off the suffering of the everyday person.

For what-new playthings and playgrounds of the handful of billionaires?

It is a new kind of slavery.

I can’t be more ashamed of our country.

We have lost our moral compass.
