To close out your weekend, a staccato round-up1 of what I’ve been enjoying (or looking forward to) lately – mostly mit Kinder.
VISITING
Bau Bau at Gropius Bau on a quiet weekday morning for creative, open play.
LISTENING
A new-ish recording of the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach. Perfect children’s listening for cold afternoons at home.
WATCHING
An old YouTube favorite feat. gorgeous, incredibly human singing and moves from Simon Keenlyside in this Trisha Brown-choreographed 1998 production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo.
SPEAKING OF TRISHA BROWN
I’m hoping to catch Trisha Brown Dance Company and Noé Soulier at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele this week – shows from Thursday.
I’M ALSO BOOKING
Der Freischütz für Kinder at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. A participatory opera for ages 8 and up on the main stage, with free workshops for families preceding the performances.
MUSIC COURSES FOR BABIES & CHILDREN
“The best hour of the week for me and my baby” – Elisabeth
Our courses are rooted in nature, classical music, and the voice. And they’re designed to support your child's early years and process of vocal discovery – from their very first sounds to singing in ensemble.
Over six weeks, your child grows the foundation of a lifetime love of music.
In dynamic 45-minute classes, your child experiences the power of structured, musical play. Each week features new elements, characters, and songs while building on the previous week – like a musical storybook.
Professional musicians offer your child individualized, attentive teaching through our research-based curriculum – leading your child in musical experiences full of singing, magic, play, and joy.
Classes are held in both English and German.
JOIN THE CARNIVAL OF ANIMALS
Our upcoming winter course will explore Saint-Saën's fantastical Carnival of the Animals. This course takes place at CARÁ in Berlin – Kreuzberg.
Birds, turtles, lions, donkeys, elephants, and fossils will sing, dance, roar, leap, stomp (on the wrong syllable), and quote Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star with us over six weeks of learning, growth, and play.
Here’s the booking form:
Enter the code EarlyBird2025 in the Coupon field to receive 15€ off on bookings for both winter and spring courses until 21 January.
More details – plus access to booking the spring 2025 course, The Flower – can be found here.
