about me

my name is Łukasz Bromirski. at IS-Wireless, I oversee product and sales as CPO and CSO. we deliver sovereign, high-performance software for private 5G/6G networks. the stack secures defense customers, but also powers critical communication in civilian world.

I have 29 years of experience in “professional” IT. I started as IT engineer, had a 3 year stint as a professional developer (back when real programmers used assembler, C and “full stack” meant knowing everything from OS up to your app and it’s interactions) and then decided building internet is much more interesting than developing code so I moved to Cisco. for the past 10+ years I’ve been focused on leadership (Laurence Peter principle anyone? ;)). I started as a team lead, then became director, and eventually became the country CTO for Cisco Systems Poland. along the way, I also gained experience (very painful but incredibly valuable) in sales management – for 3 years I had the opportunity to manage 2/3 of Cisco’s Polish sales organization. In 2026, I decided to leave the corporation and tackle problems closer to our reality and the current international situation – the country needs its own technology that can provide critical connectivity in various situations.

despite that (or maybe – because of it) – I’m a double active CCIE – in the Routing & Switching and Service Providers specializations (#15929) as well as a CCDE 2012::17, and I keep them current by always finding something technical to roll up my sleeves for – usually by delivering very intensive “bootcamp” style of trainings. typically 5-day long (my kind of vacation) or spread out over a few weekends.

and I just can’t stop poking my nose into interesting projects aimed at making the internet more secure, more scalable – or simply giving you ready-to-use solutions that, once implemented on your end, help you learn new and useful things.

how?

I’m working on sharing networking knowledge widely - by driving various projects and checking (unfortunately rarely these days) different networking forums.

I’m often speaker at networking/security conferences - such as PLNOG (which I created together with Andrzej Targosz), CONFidence, OhMyHack, Advanced Threat Summit or Security Case Study. for a long time you could find me at events organized by Cisco. I was also CEO of Polish CCIE Club, and I did cooperate closely with our Cisco Network Academy team here in Poland.

since I am more of a “doer” than a “talker”, I’m often found delivering various training sessions and workshops.

OK, and something else?

at the same time, I’m trying to exist and make my mark - I have two sons and I love all kinds of animals. other than that, I’m interested in militaria (with a special interest in history and the Second World War). and from time to time - programming (a long, long time ago Z80 and Motorola 6502 assemblers didn’t have anything to hide from me). later on I was working with C/C++, but recently everything has revolved around Python and network automation - Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and obviously in container world - Docker and Kubernetes.

I read good books, a lot of them - 4 or 5 monthly on average. I did translations a long time ago. if you’re interested in my choice of recommended networking books, take a look here.

for a couple of reasons long time ago I became interested in FreeBSD, switching to it from Linux 1.x/early 2.0 kernels. my love for FreeBSD stays with me today - if it’s a server, it has to be FreeBSD. if it’s hypervisor - it’s usually VMware ESXi and recently - Proxmox (yes, I know it’s Debian) or bhyve (yeah, FreeBSD!). I also switched from Windows to MacOS/iOS a couple of years ago and again - I can’t really imagine going back.

this is my blog… and only that

as it seems everyone lies about how they track you today on the internet and uses all kinds of invasive techniques to do it, to monetize your data, and to cheat you about what they actually do, here’s my short statement on what you can expect when visiting my site.

I don’t use any tracking (no cookies) and I’m not sharing any statistical data from the site with anyone. I don’t use any external analytics engines to “improve visibility”, nor external comment engines — nothing of the sort. the only external outbound links are fonts (Google and Font Awesome) and CloudFlare (offloading the JS script for the Hugo engine).

that’s all.

I’m writing for myself and for You and the only tool I’m actually using is goaccess, to generate my monthly visitor report. I’ll keep writing even without an audience.
