I know, what a way to kick things off, right? But it’s true—Kyle Cooke 2.0, the Beta Fish we got after Kyle Cooke 1.0 died following his car ride from Chicago to KC (he made it all the way here and was fine for a few days but alas), has crossed the rainbow bridge.

To be honest, something about this Kyle was off from jump—I hate to talk ill of the dead, but it’s true. In the end, he did actually prove to be almost as funny as his predecessor (our first beta fish lived a year and was so charming and interactive and an integral part of the family) because he had a thirty day warranty and waited thirty-one days to leave us. And I do think he chose to leave. He never liked us, I watched him shove himself into the drain numerous times and, to be fair, I don’t blame him. The girls did not care about him the same way they did Kyle Cooke the first and I do think he overheard Bill and I talk about his boringness more than once, so he decided to head for bluer pastures. I do wonder what significance this Kyle Cooke’s passing has on the real one—Paige Desorbo the goldfish died the day the real Paige quit the show and the other three golden girls (Lindsay, Ciara and Amanda) died on the same day a month later, due to Bill making the water too hot and essentially boiling him. I swear something must have happened in the realm Summer House that day to trigger this mass exodus and I believe the same can be said for our OG Kyle Cooke fish dying at the end of this season of Summer House….

So when it came time to make a decision about whether to get one more fish, we agreed that present day Kyle looks happier than either, probably due to being free of this depressing season of In the City and earning a spot as full time cast member of Summer House once again…so maybe Kyle III will be just as fun!

In other news, retrograde seems to be grating on all of us in one way or another. I’ve said from jump that I feel much more in control of my emotions this pregnancy (a lovely feeling and part of the reason I keep wondering if it’s a boy), but this week I almost felt too in control?? I know that sounds crazy, but there’s a sense of needing to cry, but not being anywhere close to doing so that has left me in a weird in between that I don’t like. Or maybe it’s just so chaotic I’m too numb to do so.

  • The girls have been sick which makes their already chaotic sleep routine certifiably insane (we’re considering ditching Frankie’s transition bed and jumping straight to a big girl bed because she DNGAF about bed time at this point and I’d hate for her to finally get the hang of it, only for us to decide she’s ready for a bigger bed)

  • My brain can barely focus when I commit to completing a task—truly, I’ve never felt stupider. I know it’s part of pregnancy but it’s a good thing I quit my job, otherwise I’d be fired

  • There are still so many boxes to go through/ stuff to do in this house to make it functional for day to day, let alone aesthetically pleasing, but I don’t have the energy to do so and the baby feels far enough away that it’s still a figment of my imagination and I’m jealous of anyone who’s weekly countdown starts with three, but it’s also close enough that those to-dos I mentioned feel insurmountable.

This sounds like one long vent session, and maybe it is. Sometimes you just need to dump it all out to realize how small most of your complaints are. Bill reminded me this week that whatever semblance of a routine I'm grasping at ahead of the baby is a nice to have, but neither of us are going to feel settled until at least this time next year. So we just need to ride the wave and stop fighting the current—everyone is healthy, everyone is happy and all the little stuff will figure itself out.

So basically, this week’s Luce Ends are just one giant knot that I’m hoping to untangle down the road. Where the road leads? That’s anyone’s guess.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again—I love this cast. I have loved this season. Usually, after Casa Amor, I feel myself slowly losing interest and that’s not the case this time. Where is Peacock when we need them?? THIS is the crew I want to see beyond the Villa!!!

That being said….the potential finale four-some has be kerfuffled. Three week’s ago I was pretty positive Ellie and Finley would win it all if the public didn’t vote for Lorenzo purely for the vibes, but now? NOW?? To watch Finley blow up he and Ellie’s shot at however much money they give in the UK was truly painful. To then watch Ellie double down on it and convince herself he was worth leaving the Villa for?

So now we’re left with the following couples and, although no one asked, I feel I must give my thoughts as to why most of them shouldn’t win and which couple should.

Ranking from first to worst….

  1. Simba and Angelista: OKAY HEAR ME OUT—I respect anyone who is not buying the Lying King redemption tour, but let’s be realistic here….even if this man IS acting….it’s some of the best acting we’ve seen in years!!! GIVE HIM AN OSCAR! Personally, I do think it’s genuine and I do think he and Angie are a good match and, out of all the journey’s in here, I see them lasting the longest outside the Villa. And I think Angie should win regardless of Simba just for her gorgeous eyerolling skills and for that time she made Simba hold her hair while she ate.

    • also, while it might have been wrong….Simba did give us Mara so I’m grateful he messed up!!!!

  2. Lorenzo and Julia: If they actually win this, it’ll be because of Lorenzo. I do not think they will last as a couple (Lorenzo keeps saying he’s happy to “end this experience with Julia”—it’s giving girl who went to Eras tour and posted “maybe the real gift was the friends we made along the way”) but I adore this man and I won’t be upset if he takes it all. He’s been a favorite from jump and that’s not just because he’s extremely handsome. The truth is I don’t know what I’m going to do without him and I hope he does another show down the road (also Julia is so beautiful it sometimes hurts to look at her??)

  3. Tommy and Yas: I know essentially nothing about these two and they probably will get fourth because they’ve had zero screen time but I’m giving them third because they’re probably the most functional couple in the Villa…they’re just also the most boring. When we met Tommy’s parents first, I honestly had to ask myself who Tommy was and where he came from. When did he get here? Casa???I’m not even sure production introduced him when he entered the Villa, that’s how forgettable this man is. And all I know about Yasmine is that men like to call her a pocket rock (which really makes me want to gag??) and allegedly she runs some sort of MLM coaching scheme…to be fair, I bet she’s very good at it.

  4. Kav and Jasmine: IT PAINS ME TO PUT JASMINE FOURTH….but we cannot allow her to believe that anyone actually wants her with Kavan. I know the Lorenzo ship has sailed and that’s fine, but she essentially had to bully Kavan into saying ILY. She needs a man, not a boy, and certainly not some moron who listens to his stupid brother, a brother who has had zero success on the show and hates his current partner???? Sorry, but 4th for you, boo boo.

    • I’d love to see Jasmine on Allstars (with Lorenzo) but I’m sure that’ll never happen so looking forward to seeing her sister next season

  5. Samraj and Mica: Look, I do not understand the Samraj and Mica hate from the public…but it is there, and therefore they should not make it to the finale. They can’t win! It would honestly be smart for the current islanders to bring them along to assure they get third place or higher, but Mica has tried to self evicted for two weeks now and I think we should just let her so she can see that, while nice to her, Samraj is sort of an asshat and know-it-all and maybe that’s why people don’t like them? I wish them well, but I do think Samraj’s ego could take a whack or two.

  6. Priya and Aiden: HOW ARE THESE TWO STILL HERE?!?!! HOW WERE THEY NOT IN THE BOTTOM??? When I tell you all I despise them as a couple (and sometimes individually) I am not exaggerating. Aiden is a producer plant—there is no other excuse as to why he’s made it this far when not one of these women are interested in him. And Priya, I’m sorry to say, is just here because everyone else felt guilty sending her home before Mica and Samraj after what happened. To watch them ORCHESTRATE a friends to lovers storyline right before our eyes is infuriating. The most these two have in common is the fact that MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THIS VILLA have described them as bad kissers….it’s honestly a tragedy they’re still here and I have to assume that if they make it to the fire pit where the former islanders return, they will be booted.

    • I will say, THOUGHT IT PAINS ME, both of their families redeemed them a little bit in my eyes and I started to feel things for them….but then Jasmine’s sister arrived and Aiden pulled an Aiden while Priya tried to convince everyone they were basically falling in love/ worried Aiden was hitting on Jasmine’s sister and I can’t deny it….it was fun to watch that chaos demon make a mess of things one more time before HOPEFULLY getting the boot

Something about the last week has unlocked something in me. It’s not a good thing and it stems from extreme paranoia that I have not thought out this third baby thing nearly as much as I should and my already limited amount of time just got more limited, but whatever the case, it’s unlocked!

I’ve shared with you all that I’ve doodled with the same three ideas for years (I mean YEARS) and, when I hate one, I just circle back to another. This week, I decided to re-dive into the one I’ve spent the most time on and challenge myself to not pivot/quit/hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE on the whole thing just because it’s a word salad. So far….

You all were super encouraging when I shared that I’d quit my job (a year ago) and have been struggling with the “what’s next?” of it all—many of you even said that writing should be what’s next, which is highly flattering considering I’ve never written a damn thing. You’re all just as delusional as me!! But in all seriousness, I need to keep reminding myself that there’s nothing wrong with being a little delusional. I’m serious when It comes to my kids, my money, my relationship, my house. I’m stressed about it all and trying to make sure we’re all keeping afloat...so what if I do want to spend a part of my mornings writing gibberish for a book that probably will never see the light of day? SO WHAT, WHO CARES???

It’s easy to get in funks and, while I’m very grateful to not be stressing over my former 9 to 5, when you don’t have somewhere to place some of that funky energy, it eats away at other areas. Before, I could blame my job for a rough week. Now, it’s on me, myself and I. And binging some Bravo, organizing my closet, linking some clothes that I currently cannot fit into isn’t pulling me out of said funk….so maybe writing about a former actress named Holly who has to rekindle things with her old co-star turned arch nemesis is the funk repellent I need to get me through these weird vibes and let me escape somewhere else for a bit! Who’s to say? Who’s to care? Certainly not me!

Tune in next week for when I pretend I didn’t write any of this.

🎤Keke Palmer had Oprah on her podcast this week—I love catching up on anything Keke and I feel like lately she’s had a revolving door of top tier guests and I just can’t wait to see what’s next for her!!!
