Confirmation Edition & More Posted

I know it has been a long wait, but the Confirmation & Adult Instruction Edition of the Christian’s Practical Guidebook is now available through section 7. As I have told you before, the Confirmation Edition will be the new catechism for Learning the Bible with Martin Luther 2. With it being posted, you can now get your hands on it and begin to see how it looks and operates. What you will notice is that it is a slimmed-down version of the Comprehensive Edition. This allows it to be tailored specifically to confirmation and adult instruction-type materials. Plus, all of the numbering is identical and linked to the Comprehensive Edition. What that allows is for users and especially teachers of the material to have access to more information when questions arise or if you, as the teacher, want to teach more about a particular topic.

In the Confirmation Edition, the individual topics have been named “Guidances.” This does two things. First, it helps differentiate it from the Comprehensive Edition’s “Topics” to avoid confusion. But the term guidance is also intended to invoke how Philip guided the Ethiopian Eunuch on his journey of understanding and accepting the truths of scripture. The point of the Christian’s Practical Guidebook and Learning the Bible with Martin Luther is not to indoctrinate, but to bring people along. That is why the Confirmation Edition will likely be a little longer than your typical catechism because the topics and ideas are more thoroughly explained and supported by scripture. In addition, it is meant to be as practical as possible to help users see how the information is important and useful today. That being said, there is less information, and many questions are truncated as compared to the Comprehensive Edition. However, even in that simplified form, each guidance still feels complete and straightforward when a user goes through it.

With that, many of the users of my materials and pastors I encountered wanted something that was smaller and more basic than the catechisms of today. In other words, a true small catechism that teaches only the basics rather than a more intermediate instruction. With that in mind, I have also published the Fundamentals Edition. The Fundamentals Edition strips out even more questions and answers, leaving people with roughly 15% or less of what the Comprehensive Edition covers through section 10. This edition is something pastors, parents, and evangelists can use to teach the newest Christians or their own children the basics of Christianity. Plus, because it is linked to the Comprehensive Edition, a person can still get more information if they need it. And with that in mind, the intent is to eventually make a PDF of this version available for free at www.ChrsitianBibleScholars.com or for a minimal cost for the electronic version at Amazon. That publication is still down the road, but it is something for you to look forward to.
