LOS, a Vision of William Blake, Chapter 1

Chapter 1 of LOS, my graphic novel about William Blake, is now available to buy from my online shop. It’s 60 pages of ink and lush watercolours and I’m over the moon with how it’s come back from the printer. For the avoidance of doubt, Chapter 1 contains the 28 pages that were previously available as LOS issue 1 (red and blue cover, below) which I did as a kind of proof-of-concept comic before starting to serialise on Substack.

Chapter 1, as the name would suggest, is the complete first chapter of the graphic novel, and takes young William from birth to a certain encounter in Peckham Rye. I thought a 60-page perfect-bound comic book made a more satisfying chunk of story than publishing another 30-page floppy. And, without getting too George Lucas about these things, I’ve gone back and corrected some things from the first version, mainly removing external window shutters from Blake’s childhood home (what was I thinking?! 😱).

Hope that’s clear as mud, I promise not make publication history as confusing as that of Blake’s own books!
