Neko Health was founded in 2018 by Daniel Ek (founder of Spotify) and Hjalmar Nilsonne. It is an advanced preventative care company with the goal of creating a proactive health care system for everyone.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden the company has developed an impressive body scan procedure. Scanning the entire body and using advanced machine recognition software, the Neko Body Scan can effectively make sure you catch any potential skin cancer in time. It is a smart approach that has the potential to scale, thus reducing the price.
In the quest to solve the problem of aging advanced proactive care plays a critical role. Since there currently aren’t and approved drugs that slow or reverse the molecular damage caused by aging we can only affect our longevity via life style changes. Exercise being the most obvious and well-based in science.
However, there are many diseases that can be prevented if caught in time, like skin cancer. This is why preventative care is so important. Since the public health care system today is almost entirely reactive (wait until sick, then call us) change must come from somewhere else.
Private companies that do this kind of work are extremely important. They have the potential to develop affordable and scalable solutions, which in time can be widely available to everyone. Neko Health is pushing the frontier in this regard, and I’m going to follow their development with great interest!
