Before the Big Bang we were all crammed into a single point. Love, the same one that you know well, made the world explode and differentiate. Speciation is an echo of that same process, composed of a thousand moments that clarify when we see the one in the many, and the many in the one.
In love for existence itself, be like the finch.
What is the relationship between a river and the gorge it creates? The gorge is magnificent: when the sun catches its southern slopes, the white pines glow and the icicles melt one drop at a time. To the gorge, the river is both creator and destroyer, blood and breath. Does the river know what it has done to me?
In soft strength, be like the river.
In damp limestone caves where soldiers from both sides of the war have sought refuge, it is always fifty degrees. The great alchemist Earth has created a place hidden from cold, from war, from light, from time. How does the blind trout conceptualize its dark, vibrating world? In creating refugia for those in need, be like a cave.
There is an almost invisible world surrounding us at all times. Finding its way through a crack in the concrete on the side of a busy road, a flower. Navigating sunbeams with a silver thread, a spider. There all of the time without you, your breath.
In attention, be like the sun.
Do not be so sure of the enduring, authentic self. For one eternal moment, the horse and the rider are one. Is that not enough?
In becoming, step through the door.
It has always been open.
