It’s been a week since I wrote about exiting Instagram. It’s almost hilarious how short lived that was. I’m sure if you follow me closely on here (or there) you would have noticed my account was back up within 48 hours. This was a huge decision for me and I really didn’t want to have to make it. The reality was though, that my career would suffer because of it. The whole reason I do this job is because a) I love it b) it sustains me spiritually/psychologically/financially c) it gives me so much freedom d) I can express myself in different ways e) I’m contributing to culture and (hopefully) enhancing lives.
The trouble with exiting a platform that allows me all of those things means I would be left with the very hard decision to most likely walk away from music as I know it. My team helped me realise this. It was a really difficult conversation for me, and for them too I’m sure.
