Condensed post this week.
I’m writing this as I sit at my gate at the airport, waiting for my flight to Edmonton.
I’m currently listening to Useless (Without You) by Elmiene.
Posts may be infrequent over the next week as I’ll be travelling, hosting events and going right into some certified BIG meetings right when I return, but I’ll try my best. Stay up to date via my IG.
‘Berta see you soon!

Love Island USA’s Reunion was a #RoughWatch
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group of people who clearly dislike each other so much but are contractually obliged to be in the same room. While watching last night with E, I made the observation that who you back on this cast reveals who you are at your worst.
For a more astute observation, check out this recap by the hero of Tiktok, Mickey
FASHION
Stussy Fall 25
Last week, I wore a similarly styled outfit with a full length mac coat, baggy trousers and 90’s style skully (a handknit cotton/ramie blend made in Japan beanie actually). Upon seeing me, my sister told me I was dressed like LL Cool J.
ALD Fall/Winter 25
All the discourse of ALD has already been said. I’m a bit too inside ball these days to comment objectively, however my observations are as follows: 1) brown/red are gonna be BIG BIG this season, and 2) the Polo-ification of ALD is fully here (this is a compliment)
3Sixteen FW25
It’s been interesting to see 3sixteen evolve (I use this word specifically) into a full on fashion label vs. their past as a heritage denim label. I’m definitely a fan don’t get me wrong, however I do wish this collection had a bit more of the heritage-based bite I’ve come to love and expect from them. Auralee-esque barn coats, Johnny Collar knits a la Stoffa, rugged suit silhouettes a la Haven, and unique outerwear like AKOG, this collection has a bit of it all. Though at least in this lookbook, it’s a bit hard for me to see 3sixteen.
A special mention to the “Brown Nylon Loop Bomber”, that looks more like a desaturated plum, which caught my eye.
ISSUETHINGS AW25 Seam Shirt
This shirt caught my eye as I was scrolling, as I thought it was a workwear/elevated pokemon evolution of the Needles rebuild flannels
BEAMSPLUS AW25
Proof that Americana can still be fun! Also that green/orange puffer feels like something right out of the Kluane Mountaineering studio. Also a compliment.
Special Mention: To the homies Ethan from Human Pursuits and Spencer (and their respective partners Leah and Delany), who I had the honour of taking to a local Vancouver Filipino staple, Kulinarya this past weekend.
Seeing 3 dudes in their 30’s with Substacks sit side-by-side-by-side at a restaurant facing their spouses feels like a set up for a direct-to-streaming series, but making IRL friends + showing them the food you grew up with is always a special kind of joy in life.
Amongst other things, Raeland is a Creative Director and Designer in Vancouver.
