Seeing Ilana Glazer live at Hackney Empire, cooking fishcakes from scratch, reorganising my drawers, sunbathing with my friends, karaoke for my birthday, making smoothies, writing birthday cards, starting to cycle in London!

INDIA:

Laying in the park, watching I’m Grand Mam on tour, exploring Manchester, trail runs, hosting a Logging Off Club Quiz at Cheltenham Science Festival, making homemade tacos, Zach Bryan concert, harvesting my first cucumbers of the year.

Last month, when I felt a surge of loneliness, I downloaded Eventbrite and searched for local events. I found a volunteering opportunity landscaping at the local cemetery I walk through daily. Yes, I felt like a bit of a cheat that I found it via an app, but I am a product of the digital age. The next day, after a day of working from home in solitude, I walked to the cemetery and was met by three other local women, all older than me. By the end of the evening, I had worked up a sweat, taken care of some of the local trees by cutting back ivy, and found out about 2 other community groups I could get involved with.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to make friends and find new people in your local community to connect with. Whether it’s at your local charity shop, soup kitchen or green space, there are an abundance of causes that need our time and you’re guaranteed to feel the benefits too.
