Sometimes people are disappointing and there isn’t much you can do about it.
I really hate the “I don’t agree with your lifestyle” or “love the sinner not the sin” fallback that many people have. I mean, first off, it’s not like I chose to be this way — if I could’ve prayed or wished my way out of being who and how I am, believe me, it would’ve worked by now. I truly hate people who somehow think this isn’t the case. It’s not a lifestyle; it’s WHO I AM.
Secondly, I firmly believe that if you’re going to believe in a god that knows you since before you were born, then it’s a god that knows the path your life will take and has made you this way. It took me a long path to get there. I am who I was meant to be.
Thirdly, saying “I love you” after saying something like that… that isn’t love. That’s saying “I will only love you if you act like the way I think you should” or “I will only love you if I can understand you” or any other permutation of that idea. “Love” with conditions like this IS NOT LOVE.
Anyway, this is just one more disappointments in a series of disappointments. And yet, I always hope for better.
