I know- that feels like forever ago and I am not even sure if “blogging” is a word in people’s vocabulary anymore? It definitely dates me. But I often think about how great blogging was because there is something magical about being able to create and share and know that someone might be on the other end of it and feel connected (even if it is virtually!). Blogging was our way of putting creativity in the world, sharing our art, storytelling, and connecting. Blogging became instagramming… and then the world of social media got a little weird and we haven’t quite figured out how to be in that space in a fulfilling way. So here we are…
Our online photo gallery platform we have used for years (Pass) has changed ownership, and starting June 1, 2024 we can no longer guarantee online access to the 500+ photo galleries we have captured over the years. Whew… we have many feelings around that… but mostly, 500+ galleries means photography has brought A LOT of amazing people into our lives and we are forever grateful! We always say how lucky we are to have captured some of the most meaningful and important moments of people’s lives. What a gift that has been to us!
In an effort to stay in touch with you magical humans, without feeling the pressure to log into social, we decided to create this little substack (free, of course!) as a place to gather and connect.
We have zero expectations as to the number of times we will send you messages, (promise it will not even be close to weekly!). ;) We just want to create a space where maybe we could pop in with random thoughts, or to share photos, or other life updates! We would LOVE for you to do the same! ;) Truly… please send us ALL of the photos and life updates!
We get asked all of the time if we are still photographing. For those of you who have been around since the early days of 2009, you know we have mostly been capturing couples and families from day 1. We spent over 6 years capturing love stories full time… mostly engagements and weddings all over the world! (From Baltimore to Florence, Italy to St. Lucia and beyond!). In 2015, we traveled to all 50 states capturing and sharing married couple’s love stories through the non-profit we created, Amazing Life Together. In the space that adventure gave is to dream, we teamed up with our best friends, Laura and Tom, to live out our passion of creating a physical space to bring people together… through food. We built and operated Well Crafted Kitchen together for 7 years (yes, through the pandemic). As you can imagine, photography took a backseat at the time, but it was definitely something we continued to do whenever we were able!
In the midst of Well Crafted and doing photography “on the side,” we also welcomed two little kiddos into our lives! We like to say, life is “full of abundance” and we are incredibly grateful. <3 In 2022, in an effort to re-prioritize our lives, we closed our full-scale kitchen located within UNION Craft Brewing and ended our catering operation from our 1949 Dodge Mobile Pizza Kitchen. It was, for sure, bittersweet- but we (all four of us owners!) can all say with complete confidence, we are so incredibly grateful we made the decision we did and we will forever be grateful for the journey of Well Crafted!
So here we are… Ryan jumped right back into his post-college days of working as a systems engineer and I am working in strategic initiatives at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (the entrepreneurship hub at Johns Hopkins). It has been a much-needed reset and has created space to breathe and soak in this precious life. We are doing our best to re-train our systems to be present and live in the moment. ;)
We are still photographing “on the side” whenever we can fit it in! Thankfully, I work 28 hours per week, with Fridays off - so it allows for some extra space to fuel my creative bucket with photography! Thanks to all of our amazing clients and friends who continue to reach out and provide opportunities for us to share our talents with you! I am especially drawn to newborn sessions these days- so please send all of your pregnant friends my way! <3 For any other photo sessions or photo needs… please feel free to reach out! If we are unavailable, I will do my best to refer you to our friends!
We truly feel incredibly grateful each and every time we think of you. To have been trusted with documenting and preserving some of the most precious moments in your lives is a gift we will never take for granted. We are so grateful you have been brought into our lives through photography. Thank you for being our people.
It would make our hearts so incredibly happy to hear from you! If you have a moment, please reply and just give us a little update! Even if it is just a photo (or 10!)! ;) Sending you all big hugs!
Love & Hugs-
Liz and Ryan
P.S. If you haven’t already- please download and save your photos in a safe place outside of the PASS galleries! <3
