How to dress like a Chloé girl (when you're not on a Chloé budget)

If I’m being honest, as much as I adore clothes and fashion, and the creativity, ideas and process of getting dressed and putting an outfit together- there are few designers and fashion houses I really subscribe to and get seasonally excited about. Not that I don’t get excited- but, you know, really giddy for! Of course, I adore the visionary ideas, colour combinations, fabrics and artistry that goes into making a garment feel like a piece of treasure. The storytelling, inspiration and process that leads to making something that will inspire the masses and filter through the high street and into our wardrobes and become a part of our very own stories and self expression. But since my (brief) university days the and early era of blogging where I found a certain duty to share look books, there aren’t many designers I’ll scroll through WWD or ShowStudio for (sorry, who in the Miranda P- do I think I am?)

But-

But- Chloé is always an exception.

And the romance! It’s bohemian. It’s free spirited. It’s fabrics that flow with the breeze, built of frothy tiers like air-whipped desserts and the kind of pieces that feel like they could have been pulled out of a treasure chest in the loft (not my loft, but imagine!!) The kind of blouses that hang loose and make you want to sway your shoulders and roll your hips and sway instead of a steady step. Feeling like they belong to an era gone-by but are just as beautiful now as they were then. Made for dancing and living and playing and parading in- and just simply heaven. Oh to be a Chloé girl!!

And my goodness does that feel special because I feel like when you find a designer who sings to you; with their designs, their campaigns, their spirit and story- getting dressed becomes all the easier and more joyful! Not that I can afford it (I can promise you that if I had a spare £2,700 lying around I’d be verrrry tempted by a certain puff sleeve mini dress- I’d prance around Versailles like Olivia Rodrigo and inevitably my hair would be thicker too!), but seeking inspiration becomes so much easier when you find these sartorial alignments, doesn’t it? Meaning creating beautiful things with what you have (because you can piece them together differently) feels really exciting.

And I’m not a Chloé girl. Perhaps in spirit (definitely in spirit), but my purse strings have other firm more practical ideas and so, I thought I’d talk you through how I’m moonlighting as an elusive Chloé woman using everything I already have in my wardrobe (and some styling tips that can help you too)!
