A Quiet Market - #412

Reader,

The year ends. They all do.

This one came in quiet. A bull market without the mania. ETFs approved. Nations stacking. Institutions buying. And still. Quiet.

We used it. Built instead of watched. Ignored the noise. Focused on what we control.

This week I’m sharing two pieces.

The first is about coexistence. Bitcoin and fiat. Running parallel. For decades. And why the real risk isn’t a ban. It’s a hug.

The second is a year-end reflection. On building. On patience. On what actually matters when you zoom out far enough.

Read on…

Two dreams haunt Bitcoiners.

Hyperbitcoinization next cycle. Or the boot. Governments crush it to zero.

Both are fantasies. The real path is slower. Quieter. Measured in decades.

And it’s the stronger path.

Nineteen seventy-one. Nixon closes the gold window. Gold ten-x’d by eighty. Then crashed sixty-five percent. Sideways for twenty years. Everyone said it was done.

They were wrong.

Twenty twenty-five. Central banks are buying again. Record levels.

Gold never replaced fiat. It just sat there. Scarce. Patient. And when fiat stumbled it was there. Waiting.

Hard money doesn’t conquer. It outlasts.

Bitcoin is gold with better code. Same scarcity. No vaults. No storage costs. Every sat accounted for. Twenty-one million. Forever.

Gold proved the template. Bitcoin runs it cleaner.

Fiat handles the grind. Payrolls. Taxes. Groceries.

Bitcoin handles what matters. Savings. Long-term wealth. The way money is held.

Two systems. Running parallel. People shift to the harder rail. Slow. Steady. Irreversible.

Forget the martyr dream. Nation-states are buying. ETFs approved. Politicians pander for the Bitcoin vote.

The window for banning closed.

But here’s the question no one asks. What happens when the state embraces what it can’t control?

Look at gold. Governments didn’t ban it. They absorbed it. Regulated it. Tracked it. Free in theory. Captured in practice.

Bitcoin faces the same gravity.

Custody in ETFs. Tax reporting to the sat. KYC everywhere.

They won’t ban it. They’ll hug it to death.

The code stays pure. But access gets funneled. Choke points form. On-ramps narrow.

This is the real battle. Self-custody versus managed custody. Permissionless versus permitted.

Both systems will exist for decades. That’s the baseline.

So there’s one question left.

In a vault they control. Through a fund that lends it out while you sleep.

Or in your hands. Your keys. Yours.

Stack sats. Hold your keys.

Let institutions play their games. Let nation-states accumulate. Let ETFs swell.

None of it changes the protocol. None of it inflates the supply.

The risk isn’t that they kill Bitcoin.

The risk is they tame it. For everyone but you.

Self-custody isn’t paranoia.

It’s the point.

Geyser Fund approved. Book pre-sale in 2026.

Stay tuned.

The year ends. They all do.

You look back. You take stock. That’s the ritual.

This bull market came in quiet. No fanfare. No mania in the streets. The ETFs passed. Institutions bought. Nation-states started stacking. Headlines came and went. Retail never showed.

And still. Quiet.

Some called it boring. Maybe it was. Maybe boring is a gift.

We used it. This family. This year.

A building year. That’s what we called it.

The noise was there. It’s always there. We ignored it. The predictions. The drama. The endless opinions of men who know nothing and say everything.

We turned inward.

Built ourselves. Built our work. Built our health. Stacked value in places that don’t show up on screens.

You control what you control. The rest is weather.

Bitcoin doesn’t care.

Say it again.

Bitcoin doesn’t care.

Institutions adopt it. Bitcoin doesn’t care.

Nations accumulate it. Bitcoin doesn’t care.

Corporations put it on their balance sheets. Bitcoin doesn’t care.

It produces blocks. One after another. Has for years. Will for years. Indifferent as stone. Steady as time.

This isn’t a flaw. This is the design.

Zoom out.

Far enough and the noise falls away. What’s left is simple. It’s property. Your property. No one gives it to you. No one can take it. That’s the deal.

The fundamentals haven’t changed. Won’t change.

Scarcity. Security. Decentralization. These are not slogans. They’re facts. Cold as math.

Years end. Cycles end. Men end.

Focus on what endures.

Build quiet. Stay low. The work compounds whether you watch it or not.

The market doesn’t owe you anything. Neither does the world.

Do the work. Hold the line. Tend the light.

Winter comes. It always does. And you’ll be ready or you won’t.

That’s it. That’s the year.

Quiet bull market. Building year. Eyes forward.

The blocks keep coming.

The Turning Point

Over coffee, a friend vented. He’s thirty-something. Frustrated with the world. Its politics. Its people. Its stagnation.

This is the last newsletter for the year.

Four years of writing. Bankless since 2020.

The writing forces clarity. Demands honesty. I’ve learned more about myself and bitcoin than I expected.

I hope it’s brought you some value. Signal in the noise. That’s always the goal.

The blocks keep coming. So will I…

See you next year.
