Most People Think They’re Resting When They’re Simply Not Working (Are you?)
If you live with a mind that runs hot, where cognitive load is high, perception is wide, and your inner world operates more like an ecosystem than a machine, what you’re calling rest may actually be something else entirely.
You may be experiencing shutdown, and mistaking it for recovery.
Shutdown is a physiological and neurological state in which the system conserves energy by withdrawing from engagement. The lights are on, but no one’s home. Mistake this state for restoration, and you will slowly lose access to the very capacities that define your gifts: insight, perception, innovation, resilience.
If this is you, it’s important to know and to recognize that it can be corrected.
