For many neurocomplex adults, the gifted, the masked, the misread, the divergent, translation began early. Not as a creative act. As a survival strategy. Not to communicate truth, but to shrink it down just enough to stay connected.

This is especially true for those with traits of gifted cognition, ADHD, and/or autism. The systems they were born into often couldn’t mirror their speed, depth, sensitivity, or contradiction. So instead of being met, they learned to be legible.

And underneath that, a quieter question was already forming, one that doesn’t get asked enough in rooms about neurodivergence: if I have to translate myself to exist here, what does that say about whether this is a world I actually belong to, or one I’ve just learned to survive?

That question doesn’t get resolved. It gets carried. Here is how.
