Taking it back a full week, I went to the most BEAUTIFUL wedding in Carmel Valley last weekend, and I have to say as an east coaster I got some serious west coast envy. It was so stunning!
The Welcome party look: The most comfortable, yet dressy Doen dress! I got it the day before (I am a very last minute shopper when it comes to my own looks) and I know I'll be reaching for it often. It was perfect for a cocktail dress code on the Cali coast. I wore these Garrett Leight sunglasses and my trusty wooden Cult Gaia clutch (linked their newest version since this one is sold out) that's been my go-to this wedding season. For shoes, I love these Staud mules - this is my 2nd pair and I've gotten so much good use out of the brown this summer.

Now for the big day! The attire was black tie optional and I found this Ulla Johnson dress on major sale and knew it would be a great fit. I love a lariat necklace (similar) with a deep v, and kept the rest of the accessories pretty simple with my everyday earring & bracelet lineup. The same Cult Gaia clutch as the night before (carry-on packing) and my go-to wedding guest heels (currently 40% off) that truly work with every dress and are so comfortable!

Plus most of these aren't even "maternity dresses", but chic looks that are flowy in the stomach area and I think you can get away with simply sizing up and hopefully getting to rewear them in the future!

Not necessary, but these have saved me SO many times! I think if you have the bandwidth, this is great to have for your guests. This also a perfect task to delegate to a friend or family member who really wants to help with something.
I found this a bit odd, specifically the word “annoyed”. We’re all on our own timelines, and I think the first feelings we should be is excited and so happy for our friends engagement. Being slightly jealous makes more sense (especially if your partner is slowwwww to pop t he Q). Feels like a reflection of your own relationship if i’m being completely blunt!
I think only say something if it’s completely off dress code! Like if she picked a sundress for a black tie wedding. But if it’s just a color or style you don’t love, but is still in “theme” I think you gotta let it go! If she loves it, let her wear it! Can’t get overly nitpicky.
This is hard! If you sent the guidelines and it’s in bounds, it’s hard to come back and say no. If you’re super close with her and it’s returnable maybe, but i’d have other options in her budget ready to share. Searching for bridesmaids dresses is NOT easy!
Defffinitely not! You can be selective here - #’s and group vibe are important for a successful bach!
