Common Wait Types in SQL Server

It’s been super fun to refresh on Wait Stats in SQL Server, and, as usual, I’ve learned more than I expected on a familiar subject by writing it down and illustrating it.

These aren’t ALL of the common waits– this doesn’t touch on locking, parallelism, etc. – but these are some of the common ones that can be easy to confuse because of the similar names, like PAGELATCH / PAGEIOLATCH / LATCH waits.
