Good morning lovely readers and I write this from the sofa with my ankle still elevated. FFS. I am a very impatient person and when the doctor told me it would take 6-8 weeks to repair, I said ‘yes, yes’ and then immediately decided in my head that it would only take a couple. I have always been like this. No time for recovery, thank you, straight back in it. Sigh. Anyway, I have been forced to admit defeat and admit that three weeks isn’t long enough to heal ligaments and am working from the sofa which actually isn’t that bad at all, the only issue being is that the cat thinks my laptop stand is her new bed and I spend a lot of time batting her off. BTW, the laptop stand is the one that I mentioned a few weeks ago in my List Of Joie and honestly, it’s SO GOOD. Would highly recommend.
So I know that loads of you are on your annual holidays so I have been debating what to write this week. I like this midweek paid post, mostly because it doesn’t have a main focus and we can go off on a tangent. Last Saturday, I posted High Street Heroes which is always a really popular post and also good fun to collate. It’s good to keep an eye on what’s new, mostly so that I can tell you all about it but also to see what direction the retail industry is focusing on and what is likely to be popular. One of the items that I showed was a pair of rather lovely embroidered napkins from Anthropologie which were fairly reasonably priced at £22 for two. Now, at £11 each we are not talking hand embroidery here and they’re imported but these napkins are promoting a current trend for hand embroidered items and presenting them at a price that is affordable. But I thought that this comment from Gina, a paid subscriber, was definitely worth discussion so I decided that it would be a good topic for this weeks Wednesday post.
Just curious, how do you feel about the market being flooded by mock handmade stuff currently? Lots of clothes that are copies of small businesses who make from vintage tablecloths. Also as you said stonewear etc that looks like it's handmade. Both my adult kids veto stuff that's copied even before I spot it is!
