Lindzeanne · Notes on Material and Time

Happy New Year everyone, I hope this note finds you well. If you’re a fellow USA American, wow, what shit times we are living through. If you are not from the US, my apologies. I hate it all. In an effort to not be overwhelmed, I took a break from Instagram, and then that break turned into nearly two months of not posting or engaging. And I don’t feel sorry about it. It’s been relaxing, no sense of FOMO, and the best part? How much more time in a day it gives me. To read, and nap on the sofa, and make bigger work I have been avoiding in order to continue to participate in the churn. I’m not quitting it of course, but wow does it feel great to not scream into the void of cute dog videos, AI art, and 2 week courses that will make you a better XYZ.

My little space. I impulse purchased (enabler, you know who you are!) myself a belated birthday present of the large antique Yokota Daruma wooden thread caddy pictured below. My work space is cluttered and small, so I don’t usually share it, but here you go!

A January finished work, 18 x 23 cm (available)

Although I have technically finished the tarot deck I have been working on, inevitably some of the first major arcana don’t seem as fully formed or coherent as some of the later ones, and especially when being compared to some of thee minor suites. This has taken me about 4 years! I’m not redoing all the major arcana cards, but some really need it I think.

The fool version 2. You can see the original on the right.
And the high priestess. The updated version is on the left.

I think I’m going to also redo the goddess card, and probably the moon as well because the metallic thread warped it so bad that I doubt it will photograph well. I need to really start looking into how I’m going to publish this. Currently I’m thinking small batch independently published/printed.

I’ll also be participating in the One red thread group exhibition for the second time to be held later this year. Here is some progress on that urgent submission. It’s about 30 x 30 cm. The criteria is simply you just have some red on the piece somewhere, but I’m a go-big-or-go-home type, so this monochromatic beasty is what’s happening

Thank you for following along.
