Happy July, dear ones! I have so much goodness to share with you in this newsletter!
First, I’m going to start with the really fun news about No Bad Cards — I am shifting the format of this newsletter and I’m running a 20% off sale for new monthly and annual subscriptions to celebrate!
No Bad Cards will still include our free monthly newsletter at the top of the month (you’re reading one right now!), and will still have a card pull for the astrological season ahead, just like we did in June for Cancer season.
But the real change is that this newsletter is actually, finally, living up to it’s name: I am going to start devoting each month to deeply unpacking one Tarot card of the community’s choosing — starting with the “bad,” “scary,” “tricky,” or challenging cards.
I put out a call to the NBC subscribers a few weeks ago and asked for them to tell me the cards that still irked them, activated them, made them feel afraid, and they gave me so much to work with.
So from here on out, I’ll be revealing the card we will be focusing on for the month ahead at the top of each month, and will build out rich content that will help folks to consider and open to the cards in totally new ways.
Why The Moon card and not The Tower (it’s coming in a future month), Three of Swords (you better believe it’s coming in a future month, lol), or Judgement, which was a repeat request in the NBC request thread (trust and believe I’m coming at you with major Judgement content at a future date)?
I think that it can be great to start with a card that is a little less activating, with a more mixed perception among folks. The Moon card is beloved by some, loathed by others. It is a calm presence for some, and a deeply activating, frightening, unsettling, void-like specter for others. For these reasons, it felt smart to me to start with The Moon. It might not be an obvious heavy hitter like The Tower, but for the folks that it does activate, it is really, really intense.
Even though The Moon card is ruled by Pisces and doesn’t really have any canonical connection to Cancer, I still think it’s really lovely timing to explore this card during Cancer season, our Cardinal Water time of the year.
The Moon card is a very important anchor for a great many moments of life, and it deserves to be centered as such. Waiting in a void space? Lying in a bed for long stretches alone? Healing from an accident, injury, or challenging situation? The Moon card doesn’t cause these things, but is never too far away when they arise (which I will unpack more in the coming weeks!). Knowing that and having good correlations to make helps us become more sensitive and aware of how the Tarot shows up in our lived, day to day experience.
I’ve got some peak Moon card content coming at you over the next several weeks (what do Jean-Dominique Bauby, Frida Kahlo, and end of life visions have to do with The Moon card? Ohhh baby, just you wait and see), and we will cover different cards in depth each month thereafter.
Join us here and get access to these deep dive missives, and be able to ask questions, request future cards for me to unpack in later months, and so much more!
I hope you will join me in the exploration!
I’m so excited and I hope you love this, too :)
Our first Moon card missive will come out on Sunday, July 5th!
Until that time, leave me your comments about The Moon below 👇🏼 How do you feel about it? Do you have any questions for me about the card? I’m so looking forward to hearing from you!
Now — onto the monthly goodness!
It is peak berry season here in the PNW (look at the treasure at the top of this newsletter), and I had the supreme pleasure of sneaking in a bountiful harvest with my family at a nearby farm today after my kiddo had Pre-K and PT.
Although the PNW is beautiful and offers fairly easy access to these kinds of magical things, I hate to admit that I sometimes miss the boat on them.
It’s rare that I feel like I’ve picked enough berries, peaches, or cherries, or spent enough time at the river once summer comes to a close. I don’t think that’s unique to me, but I’m going to work hard to make time for more pleasure, more accessible sweetness, and more ease this year. Not sure how, but I am committed, lol. I think my goal is to just start small, to begin wherever this moment finds me, rather than feeling like I need to stretch out far, or make things complicated.
In the past few years, that ease has been a lot less within reach with a super small babe. Now, our kiddo is 4.5 and is a fully present, passionate member of the berry picking club. It’s such an evocative reminder that everything is a season, everything changes. Last year it was kind of difficult to go berry picking. This year, it was a dream.
Making space for deeper pleasure, joy, and more importantly, community care, is a huge part of what July is about.
In fact, our theme for the month ahead is Let Support In.
You can listen to the Monthly Medicine download of Tarot for the Wild Soul here, or wherever you get your podcasts.
July is a strong invitation to stretch out of our comfort zone and ask for more support: support we need, support we desire, support we prefer. Whether it be from neighbors, friends, family, or the spiral/spirit realm, this month is going to really push us to evaluate our stories around community care, and challenge us to birth a new way.
July wants us reaching for pleasure, expansion, and new pathways at every chance we have, and has the potential to be wildly transformative, if we choose to dive in and work with it.
In my channeled monthly medicine download for July, The Empress is the card that I pulled for the prompt, “how can I best work with the month ahead?”
The Empress seems like sunshine, roses, and sensual pleasures, but it ain’t shit if we don’t feel worthy or deserving of these things. To work with The Empress around a month that will be pushing us to expand our capacity for support and receiving means that we will have to confront our wounding around community, the vulnerability around asking folks for help, and our insecurities around centering pleasure and beauty in our lives.
If you want to know how best to work with The Empress (to best work with the month ahead), this spread is for you 🍓
What does The Empress want to say to me? What does this card want me to know most?
How can I work best, and most closely with it in the coming month?
What area of my life is this card going to be zeroing in on, demanding that I expand and allow more support and pleasure in?
A supportive anchor to hold onto when the work around this feels really intense or confronting?
Is there an action to take this month to help me to align more fully with The Empress’ invitations to me?
Thank you so much for being here, loves! Your support means the world to me.
❤️ Linds
