During my daily journal writing recently as I was trying to quiet the voices in my head, one of the voices said “use our voices to write a poem...so I did. There was some synchronicity with the writing also, as my online writing group theme for the week was “repetition”…this poem fit.
Oh, The Voices In My Head
Oh, the voices in my head
Filling it with endless chatter, chatter
Echoing, occupying space
Trying hard not to believe
Oh, the voices in my head Oh, the voices in my head
Reliving the past
Carrying feelings of rejection
Being told you can’t do it
Saying, stay the course
Don’t be different
Don’t try something new
Don’t get it wrong
Oh, the voices in my head
Questioning every step, I take
Doubting, comparing, judging
Whispering not enough
Oh, the voices in my head
Search for silence
To empty the space
To give myself some grace
Oh, the voices in my head
Silencing the noisy chatter of old
Writing new stories of my own
That speak with tones of grace
Oh, the voices in my head
Begin to sound different now
Speaking with kindness
Shine the light of belief
Oh, the voices in my head
Soften now, words of kindness
Of trust, of belief in self
Guidance flows, you are enough
