I am part of an online writing group that has weekly writing themes, last week the theme was “role models”. As I was contemplating the theme, I thought about the roles models in my life, my parents, a couple of special aunts, teachers, my older brother and others in my life, friends, acquaintances, and inspiring people that crossed my path as part of my everyday life and what did I learn from these “role models”, the traits, characteristics they all have in common. They didn’t look for the spotlight, just went about their everyday lives, modeling with actions and words how to navigate life’s journey. My writing became a reflection on the “everyday” role models that quietly move through life, just being their best self, and as silent observers we watch and learn….we all know them!
Everyday Role Models
Role models found in everyday people
Quietly moving through life
Teaching by how they live
Words often silent as
Actions speak
When spoken, words come softly
Planting seeds of patience, courage, hope
Silent observers watching
As everyday models
Rise from challenges
Steady themselves
Take breath before actions
Listen before advising
Pause before panic
Touch with kindness
Gently share wisdom, advice
Role models found in everyday life
Passing quietly through our lives
Leaving footprints as they pass
Lessons remain quietly in our heart & soul
Guiding us on our path
To pause, breathe before panic
To be gentle, be kind, to listen
To show compassion & care
Letting actions and words
Sharing wisdom, compassion, patience
For others to see
Everyday role models
