Smash that little heart and make a Harpy giggle! Which is a very odd sound, kind of like “Hih hih hiiiiih!” 😳

Friends! When we last saw Jerry, our ex-almost-supermodel Centaur, he’d gone back to the family homestead to ask his parents for a loan to pay his back rent. He hasn’t had a chance to ask yet due to an impromptu family dinner, where his older sister Julie and her hubbins Mitch made a big announcement. Which led to Jerry asking if they knew whether their upcoming baby was Human or a Creature, like him. Which leads to a big oopsie on someone’s part…

Awwww 😭 Is this not the way we wish all family misunderstandings and glitches could be resolved?? That’s one of the great things about comics, m’darlings: you can make the world the way you want it to be.

A peek at this week’s hidden fun!

The rug on the way to Dad’s home office: You know I try to put a little classical Greek reference where I can. The pattern on the rug comes from an Ancient Greek vase. Big thanks to my art director Hyena Hell for the suggestion!

In the same panel, the photos in the hallway are of Mom n’ Dad’s wedding, Jerry’s first Creature Magazine cover, and Jerry’s high school graduation. I do these as separate drawings and then put them in frames in the panel.

Gerald and Elaine on their wedding day; Jerry looking a little dorky in his high school graduation pic, not quite a supermodel yet.

The third framed photo (below) deserves to be a little bigger. I did this for funsies one night and it became one of the fandom’s favorite images of Jerry. In this pic, he’s about 20 years old and has just started modeling and dating supermodel Centauress Esmé. A quick rise to fame! Annnnnnd a meteoric crash landing just a couple of years later…

As my friend Mollie says of Jerry: AhWOOOOOgah!!

In Dad’s office, we see his accounting certificate, made out to Gerald A. Spellman—the “A” is for Archimedes, which Greek Mythology majors may remember as one of the bigs in ancient mathematics. We also see a stack of papers from Dad’s accounting firm, Spellman and Charon; the latter is the name of the guy you pay to get across the river Styx. (Foreshadowing: Mr. Charon is not a great business partner.)

Jerry gave Dad that mug, of course.

Another favorite image: Baby Jerry. Because BABY JERRY 😻😭 A little backstory: Gerald and Elaine had Julie, but then had trouble getting pregnant again for nine years. At that point, they entertained the idea of Creature adoption. Creature babies were (and still are) a lot easier to adopt than Human babies. They met li’l Jerry when he was about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. They fell in love with him instantly, and how could they not because BABY JERRYYYYYY 😻😭

More on Jerry’s backstory in an upcoming episode of WRASSLIN’ CENTAURS!!

In the last newsletter, we did a poll to see what you Hoofheads thought Julie and Mitch’s baby would be. Highest rated guess: Between baby Centaur and baby Minotaur. Lowest guess: Human. Sorry to disappoint! 🤷‍♀️

What do you think, friends? Are we good with Mom? How about Mitch for throwing Harpy shade? What do you want to see more of in future episodes? Should Jerry get his roots done and go back to being model-blond? Speak, you fabulous beings!
