Can you believe they’re making us wait 10 days to watch the champions play football again?

Anyway, hello! I wanted to drop in, now the season is underway, and not talk about football, but thank you for subscribing. You may have noticed, things have been a bit busier around here lately, and I’ve been really enjoying sinking my teeth into more stuff.

That’ll continue as the season rolls on. This newsletter means a lot to me, and so does everyone subscribing: The Platform Formerly Known As Twitter is full of so much bile, I made a very conscious choice to leave there about two years ago now because I just didn’t want to feed it anymore, I didn’t want to give it any oxygen.

Unfortunately, that also meant I lost a lot of potential reach with something like this newsletter, so I can’t thank enough everyone who reads, shares, subscribes, for engaging with something that isn’t shared there, reminding me that I don’t have to be there to reach people who are interested in the same things that grab my attention.

With more motivation and time, more regular posts will be continuing here, and I am going to have a bit extra for paid subscribers as well, whenever I can, moving forward.

I’m reluctant to promise exactly how much it’ll be - I don’t want to just churn out more thoughts/words and compromise on the quality of them - but there will be a bit extra, hopefully every 1-2 weeks, starting tomorrow with a look at Christos Tzolis’ performance against Coventry and how he’s so threatening without ever beating his man.

That piece will be sent to all subscribers, just with a paywall halfway through. That’s part of the reason for this email - I’ve never done that before, and I don’t want anyone to receive it and wonder why they suddenly can’t see the whole thing.

There will obviously still be plenty for all subscribers! Like at the start of this week, there will be another Premier League weekend piece on Monday, dropping before Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa. And plenty more of that (and other stuff) to come in the coming weeks and months.

As for the extra stuff, it’s a bit of a blank canvas at the moment. Some of it will look like what you’re used to, some might not. I’m open to possibly recording some conversations and collaborating with Arsenal-suporting pals as well. If you’ve suggestions or thoughts on what you’d like to see here, I’m all ears!
