Deciding to rebirth or renew your belief system is both courageous and daunting. There’s the stuff we know we believe. The stuff we were told to believe. And the stuff we don’t even know we believe. Together, we’re going to take a look at what and how we believe, uncover the stuff we buried in the subconscious, and connect to the Soul’s truest belief system in order to release the old to make way for the new. I’m excited to go on this journey of unpacking, unfolding and Marie Kondo-ing the shit out of outdated thoughts and beliefs that limit your potential.

Starting off with a fresh, clean slate is not always easy. Shedding the skin of the thoughts and beliefs that have been with many of us since childhood takes a good amount of effort. If you do a little shimmy and shake, you can usually loosen it up, and that’s what we’ll be doing this month.

Now, as much as I would love to be able to wave a wand and clear the slate completely, the mind, body and soul doesn’t quite work like that. I insist you offer yourself some grace in this venture. We are very quick to ridicule, demean, criticize and degrade ourselves when faced with uncomfortable situations or challenges. Looking inward is one of those great challenges.

Do your best to operate from a place of no guilt, no blame, no shame, no judgment. We’re collecting data for observation. Be REAL about your thoughts, and be kind to yourself. Yesterday and all days that came before might make up the current iteration of YOU, but the days are not ALL of you. Your soul is a bright and beautifully enlightened beacon of power, strength and peace, and it’s time to get back to those roots and Set Your Soul Free. LFG!

  1. Start by picking an uncomfortable thought you have that likes to resurface. Something that pops up in the back of your mind whenever you’re about to do something new, different, life-changing, or even something as simple as giving yourself rest.

  1. Speak that thought OUT LOUD. Let it move beyond your mind and let the words pass your lips. How does that sound? If you heard this being said to someone you love, how would you respond? (For me, it’s usually fisticuffs…) It’s amazing what happens when we let a thought out of our heads, hearing it outside of the mind. Folks are often shocked to hear the “quiet part out loud.”

  1. Get to know that thought. Give that thought a name, perhaps something like “Dumbass Thought.” This way when you hear the thought, you can go, “Oh hi, Dumbass Thought! I was wondering when you might arrive!” How does it feel to invite Dumbass Thought in, intentionally? Personally I crack up laughing when this happens because I’m immediately made aware that it’s a thought that doesn’t benefit me.

  1. Give yourself permission to move on from that thought for now, so you can allow more productive thoughts in. You can tell Dumbass Thought, “No, thank you. There’s a No Soliciting sign on the door to my mind. Have a great day!“ (Or if you’re me… Fuck you very much, Dumbass Thought!)

  1. Remind yourself that you are open to thoughts that bring peace, comfort and joy. Welcome additional thoughts that support your endeavors, thoughts bringing inspiration rather than feelings of defeat. Lean into those inspirational thoughts. You have them! And they are often drowned out by the very LOUD limiting thoughts. Think about that… The limiting thoughts tend to be louder than the productive thoughts. (Feel free to tell those thoughts to STFU so you can hear what’s right for you.)

  1. Breathe. Take a moment to reflect on the work you just did. Check in with how your body, mind, and nervous system feel when you decide to tell a thought to Fuck Off. Keep breathing, deep and slow. Let the Dumbass Thought exit your mind and body with your breath, creating the space for productive and supportive thoughts, like “I AM CAPABLE.” (Extra Credit… Can you see how this thought operates as a belief in your day to day life? More on that coming soon.)

  2. Move on! Imagine filling the freed spaces with peace, happiness, joy and love. Affirm your supportive thought and let your heart smile.

I invite you to get to know more of your thoughts, perhaps give them silly names. In the weeks and months to come, we’ll continue our journey to unravel the thoughts leading to beliefs that shape our own personal realities.

With love,

Tarah
