On ordinary days

I realised today that I haven’t written to you in a while. Mostly because I haven’t had much to say. It’s been such a weird year. It’s even more strange because sometimes I can’t tell if what I’m feeling is peace or just weirdness. They’re starting to feel the same.

On the outside, life has been relatively quiet. No major highs. No major lows. Just a lot of ordinary days. I think that’s why it’s taken me this long to write. I kept waiting until I had something exciting to tell you, and then I realised ordinary life deserves to be documented too.

The biggest highlight of my year was celebrating my birthday. It was, without question, the best day I’ve had this year.

It meant more than anyone probably realised because I had been really sick just two weeks before and didn’t feel better till a day before my birthday. I honestly thought I’d spend another birthday in bed, just like I did the year before. But God had other plans, and I’m so grateful. Looking back now, I don’t think I celebrated just turning twenty-two. I celebrated being well enough to be there.

Lately, though, I’ve been feeling like I’m living in a loop. The days blur into each other, and I don’t really have much to look forward to. The future starts to feel blurry, and my world becomes as small as whatever is happening that day.

I used to feel this way only when I was sick, but it’s starting to feel less temporary. Maybe that’s what happens after you’ve spent so much time trying to get through each day—you forget to start looking beyond it.

I think I’m simply in one of those quiet seasons of life that don’t make for interesting stories but still shape you in ways you only understand later. So these days, I’m doing simple things. I’m watching K-dramas. I’m listening to music a little more intentionally. I’m talking to God, even on the days I don’t have the right words. I’m learning that sometimes hope doesn’t arrive all at once. Sometimes it returns in really ordinary ways.

Maybe that’s enough for now.

I hope life has been kind to you. And if it hasn’t, I hope you’ve remembered to breathe. I hope you’ve found small things that remind you life is still happening around you.

Have an amazing week.

As always, I’m rooting for you.
