boiled eggs and realisations. 🥚

boiling eggs. when i was growing up, my mum would make hard boiled eggs. the type that were quite hard boiled (with the slight bitta grey that from the outside, looks like the ball in computer mice back then) and i would eat them because well, i didn't know anything else, and honestly they tasted great with salt n pepper on some freshly buttered toast. or crushed, squished onto some flatbread, and…

Blog posts don't have to convert.

My thoughts on: https://andysblog.uk/how-to-write-blog-posts-that-convert/ . Internet Archive link for posterity. I came to Bear Blog for a few reasons, one of which is it's focus on simplicity and ease. Another was the community. A quick browse through the discovery feed on any given day will lead to an assortment of blogs ranging from technology related posts, to philosophy, to general life…

go do stuff 📸🏍

this was originally going to be a blog post about my experience about taking photos with film (i'll make this another day). which was prompted by a mate asking me about what i use. but it turned into a stream of consciousness. i'll leave it up for now. i used various disposables initially, realised i wanted to try a variety of films so i got myself a kodak f9. it's cheap, and allows me to load…

26 soon

I am terrified. But not in the shivering in my boots way. Nor the horror movie suspense building way. More in the existential dread way that the average 20-something year old will undergo at some point in their life. I offer no answers, solutions, nor remedies for this. I am going to be 26 soon. Most people by this age have a place of their own, a plan of their future. Something to show for their…

sources, n' 🩳 shorts of confidence

As for sources of confidence, I hope this is a simpler matter than the last. Currently a primary source of confidence would be my fitness. Anyone who knows me, knows of my desire to wear shorts in any, and all situations as is possible (and appropriate). This partially stems from a comfort perspective, another part however comes from a desire to have the quads on display . Now, as I write this, I…

wishing to please others

Please others is a fairly easy matter to tackle. Narrator: It was not. Place it in the same category as baser tribal survival instincts. Call it a day. Why else would I want to please others? Well. Oddly enough pleasing others is a selfish act at times. Pleasing others for my own satisfaction. Pleasing here, is used in various contexts. Such as personal relationships, in corporate settings,…

iced hōjicha latte and vanity

Iced hōjicha latte and miso tiramisu. An order I used to once share, now I sit waiting for it, solo. Odd enough this doesn't invoke any sense of sadness. It's just a fact. As much as the sun will come up tomorrow. I never did understand customising orders. I always felt that by changing any component to an item I was being a pain in the arse the staff/chefs. Even if this change of the item brought…

restarting

I originally had another website which I ran using Hugo as the framework, Netlify for deployment, and Github to host the markdown. I would use Obsidian to write my blog posts, and back those up on Github. The workflow was that, when I pushed to the Git repository, it would automatically deploy to my website through Netlify. It doesn't matter if you do, or don't know what these pieces of technology…

(not such) an ass of a day

what an ass of a day. cut myself on my face and finger, items strewn all over my bed, and chair, and desk. waiting to be packed. office today since a teammate is in from another state, getting drinks after. sickness seems to be gone, but worried about a rebound. waiting at the train station. i can feel beads of sweat trickling down my chest. i wore the wrong shirt today, really should've worn…

going to make mistakes

Defining and identifying love is extremely difficult because it looks different and feels different to everyone. There are also thousands of depictions and confessions of love everywhere you go. Turn on the tv, listen to the radio or open a book and it’ll be there. I honestly don’t understand majority of these declarations but sometimes I read, see or hear something and something clicks inside me,…
