Another finished NextFest event, another super late post featuring the many demos I played during the event. This time, it featured many games that I discovered on Reddit, and so many games with AI art that a few may or may not have snuck into this list. As usual, the games aren't ordered in any way, aside from being "grouped" by publisher.
Let's GO!
I've been looking forward to playing Dreams of Amelia for a while after seeing some posts on Reddit about the game, and it didn't disappoint. It's a charming sex simulation game that adds some little touches that make the game stand out in a good way. The demo only has a few actions available, but it's enough to get me hyped for the full game.
Another game I've been looking forward to for a while is Monmusu Paradise ~Visitors~, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. There's not much to do in the demo aside from grinding in a minigame that gets old after a while and "interacting" with the few NPCs that you can have sex with. That said, the pixel art and animations are eye-catching, and the game could become more enjoyable with more content and a few tweaks.
I imagined Demonherd was a Monster Capture game with a Pokemon-like interface when I looked at its screens, but it turned out to be completely different. It's a typical RPG Maker game that's surprisingly fun and features pretty art and sex scenes that are integrated into the plot.
I enjoyed Succubus Dungeon quite a bit due to its solid gameplay and gorgeous visuals, though the demo felt a tad empty. It's very promising, and I can't wait to see what the full game has in store.
The game's title left me wondering whether this was going to be a cuckquean game where a woman lets her hubby bang every woman that catches his eyes or an FMC NTR game where the protagonist looks for a stud to fill her to the brim with the pleasure that she desperately craves and her hubby can't provide. What I didn't expect was a netori game, a la NTR Legend, in which you play as a resentful dude who hates his ex-boss' guts and aims to plow his busty wife as soon as he notices they moved next door. WifeWantsNTR is visually stunning and fun enough that you could spend hours playing it without noticing, despite its plot progression being all over the place as a consequence of speeding this up to get to the sex scenes faster.
Hide your wife! Hide your older sister! Hide your childhood friend! The ugly bastards are here!
Silliness aside, Henteria Chronicles turned out to be an enjoyable game that's not for everyone since no character is safe from getting mercilessly cucked. It also features plenty of sex scenes, though they appear as small pixel art animations instead of the big images that you usually find in other RPG Maker games.
Trophies: A Corruption Tale's unique art style caught my eye almost instantly, and the game didn't disappoint. It's a corruption-focused VN with an intriguing plot that starts as your standard corruption story with a supernatural touch and becomes its own thing shortly after. Its art is gorgeous, and I love its comic-book-like art style.
I'm not a big fan of point-and-click games, but I enjoyed Mindweaver Chronicles way more than I expected. It felt like playing a game from the 2000s, just with more tits and spicy moments, and it was surprisingly fun, even if it gets a bit frustrating when you can't find that one thing you need to progress.
I never thought I'd live to see a game in which you play as a guy who watches lewd streams. No-good Streamer Mirai-chan! is as original as it is fun, though they could have added a minigame of sorts to the "Work" option, so it's more than a glorified "Gib Money Plox" button. It's also quite pleasing to the eyes.
Tales of Legendary Lust: Aphrodisia is a gorgeous visual novel that reminds me a lot of tabletop RPGs because its story features many choices that affect plot progression in one way or another, and its narration is very descriptive. The demo only covers a small portion of the game that serves as an intro and gives you a good idea of what to expect from the game.
I enjoyed playing Sekira quite a bit, even if it was different from what I expected. It's an entertaining sandbox game with decent gameplay and a plot that's neither too silly nor too serious, but it needs some polishing as it gives some error messages on some parts.
Holy shit Batman, talk about a massive disappointment. The quality of EtheriiA - Travelogue's renders made me think it might be a decent visual novel, but it didn't take me long to realize how wrong my expectations were. Its nonsensical plot and lifeless AI voice-acting made playing it feel like such a chore that I closed the game after 10 minutes.
And my expectations betray me again! Based on the cover and some screenshots, I imagined this was going to be a femdom-oriented version of Waifu Fighter instead of an unwinnable Punchout-based game in which your only fate is to get brutally wrecked, and you have to do your best not to kick the bucket. The art is decent, though.
Casual Desires seemed to be your typical AVN, but it turned out to be a bit different from the norm. It's about a half-Japanese girl who discovers that exhibitionism turns her on a lot and slowly starts to get into kinkier stuff instead of being just another college-focused game, and it's enjoyable. The renders are also nice-looking, but I can't help but get distracted by the MC's big eyes.
Anthro Heat has been one of my most anticipated games since I discovered it about two years ago, and playing the demo reminded me that the desktop version of a VR game is often harder to enjoy. It was a PITA to navigate through the menus and walk around the map, though the game's visual quality made it worth dealing with that annoyance. I guess it'll be miles more enjoyable if you use a VR headset.
Man, this post is getting quite long, isn't it?
Better take a little break, drink water, follow my Steam Curator page, and hit that beautiful purple button below to subscribe to the newsletter before we continue.
Did this game get its name changed? I have a feeling I've played a very early version of it under a different name, but I might be misremembering. Anyway, Chubby Story is a fun and eye-catching interactive game that left me wanting more, though I can't help but wonder if there'll be a sudden change in art style down the road after seeing the 3D renders in some of the screenshots on the Steam page.
I've been hearing good things about Mythos for a while, and it turns out its praise is well deserved. It's an engaging AVN featuring an enjoyable murder mystery story with urban fantasy elements that's never too serious nor too silly and has a likable cast. Its renders aren't as good as in other AVNs, but its plot is good enough to make up for it.
Trying to remain unbiased when writing about Deathblight Jormungandr is painfully hard because its art reminds me of Once Ever After every time I look at it, and I can't help but compare the two. Anyway, the game is a bit rough around the edges since the maps look a bit empty, and battles are unrewarding as if you had to avoid fighting random mooks like in Abyss Agent Alyss or Lust Vessel. That said, the game is entertaining despite its flaws, and its art is straight-out gorgeous.
I've been following the development of STRIP Battle Action Cards for a while, from when it had only three characters to its current state, and it never stopped getting better. It's an entertaining deck-building game that draws inspiration from trading card games and tweaks its game mechanics to make it unique. Sadly, the game caught the eye of that one member of the Steam Review Team and was banned.
I'd be lying if I told you I didn't enjoy this game, because Souper Game is really fun. It's a clicker game where, instead of clicking at the same point mindlessly, you drag and drop ingredients on the soup and click on them so it "digests" them, click on some pesky flies that want to ruin the soup, hide it when the troll is coming, and play minigames to gain affection points that you'll use to learn and improve skills. I can't wait to play the full game once it's released.
Femtazio left me with mixed feelings. I didn't care much about its plot, and its art style is somewhat inconsistent at times (aside from my dislike for AI art), but the gameplay itself is decent. I think the game could be better if the gameplay sections were longer and more similar to beat 'em ups, rather than the short bits of action between story segments and sex scenes the game has.
My Demon Family is similar to the other games Whiteleaf Studios made, as it's an entertaining visual novel featuring an engaging plot that's equally silly and intriguing, beautiful 2D art, and plenty of nicely animated "action" involving the MC and every woman he meets, and with every woman I mean all of them. No exceptions. I'm looking forward to seeing its ending, though I wouldn't be surprised if the MC impregnated all of them by the time it's over.
Slut Metamorphosis surprised me a bit because of its setting, even though it's not much different from the rest of the VNs Infidelisoft released. I imagined it'd be like 177013 because of its name, but I didn't imagine it'd be a VN about a party-goer gyaru who'd gets turned into a prim and proper woman after getting dicked hard behind her BF's back. Its plot is decent and lets you choose between seeing events from the POV of the male MC or both protagonists, which is a nice detail. The art is also pretty, but the protagonists' design isn't my cup of tea.
One of the things I liked most about Nudist College is how quirky and different it is from the many college-focused AVNs out there. The plot is as silly as it is enjoyable, featuring a bunch of likable characters, and its renders and animations are decent.
Love Comp is a decent dating sim with an intriguing plot and gorgeous visuals, in which you walk around interacting with the different love interests in the game to later get in their pants. In a sense, it's similar to those RPG Maker games where you walk around unlocking events, except this one is a lot more polished.
PS: FuckBread
I had high hopes for Loverse, and it didn't disappoint... much. It's an entertaining sandbox visual novel whose plot got my interest from the get-go and kept me engaged until the end of the demo. The character designs and scenes are beautiful, but it's a letdown that they used AI to make the backgrounds.
As great as Handyman Legend is, it didn't prepare me for how awesome Handyman Fantasy is. It's like SupaShinken grabbed what made the first game so good and improved it tenfold. Its minigames are now more varied and just as fun, while its pixel art and animations are top-notch, as usual. I can see myself spending hours trying to get on every woman’s pants and unlock every single scene in the full game.
Part-Time Witch is a management sim that reminded me a lot of Intoxicant, except that here you brew potions for some random customers instead of preparing cocktails for a melancholic customer in search of relief. Its gameplay is fun, even though the hearts minigame is a bit annoying, and its pixel art is beautiful.
Legacy of the Fallen is entertaining, even though Ren'Py is not the best engine to make a CRPG with. It features decent gameplay and an engaging plot, though you need to play Euryale's Gambit and its sequels first to get a better grasp of it. The renders are as eye-catching as usual, but the combat UI needs some polishing.
The more I play Xoullion's games, the more I notice how much his art has improved over time. Monster Girl Jungle is an okay sandbox game with beautiful art in which you're stuck on a mysterious island and, depending on your actions, you get eaten or "eaten" by a lamia. The gameplay is also decent, but the items in the Item Gathering segment are hard to tell apart from the background because their color tones are similar.
And that’s a wrap! I hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as I did playing those games. Stay tuned for more reviews!
