Disney theme parks already track every Lightning Lane pass, every MagicBand tap, and every posted wait time in real time, yet when a ride goes down mid-park, rebuilding the day still falls entirely on one parent standing in a hallway with a phone. The common instinct is to pitch a cleaner version of My Disney Experience: better notifications, same manual work. This post finds the pain point Disney is structurally positioned to solve and builds a product around it instead.
Role/Context: PM at Disney Experiences, building on the existing My Disney Experience, Genie+, and MagicBand stack.
Geography: US domestic parks first (Walt Disney World, Disneyland).
Platform: Mobile plus MagicBand.
Timeframe: 18-month phased rollout.
Why this should exist:
Mission: Disney sells presence, not logistics. A family relitigating a broken plan is the opposite of what they paid for.
Human value: Removes the burden of manually rebuilding a day so the parent carrying it can be present instead of managing.
Business value: Protects satisfaction and repeat-visit intent at the moment a $6,000 trip is most fragile: mid-disruption.
Ecosystem: Visiting families (demand) / Cast members and park operations (supply) / Third-party trip-planning forums (competition). Focus: whoever holds the phone.
