Facebook Events posted a 31% jump in Events Created the same quarter Repeat Event Creator Rate fell 22%. Most teams read the drop as new-user timing lag and move on. This breakdown tests that assumption against two structural alternatives before trusting the lag story.
Events Created is the platform’s North Star: the count of new events organizers publish across every category and city. It climbed 31% this quarter, so organizer acquisition is working.
A new wave of first-time organizers hasn’t had time to create a second event yet. Repeat Event Creator Rate measures return activity inside a fixed window, so a surge of new entrants mechanically drags the rate down before any of them could plausibly return. The metric will recover once this cohort ages past the measurement window.
Both numbers point the same direction: acquisition is strong, and the repeat-rate dip is a denominator artifact, not a retention problem.
