Mornings are so sacred to me! One of my favorite ways to support my body and set the tone for the rest of the day is to start off with a nourishing breakfast.
While I wish every morning could feel slow and intentional, that’s not always possible. Sometimes I’m running out the door, have a packed schedule or just don’t have as much time as I’d like.
When I’m in a rush, it can be so tempting to just skip breakfast or grab something while on the go, but I know that leaves me feeling lousy all day! Especially since most conventional grab-and-go breakfast options are loaded with refined sugars, preservatives and ingredients that don’t leave me feeling my best. It can also be tricky to find options that are gluten-free and dairy-free!
That’s why I always try to keep a few cleaner breakfast options on hand that are either ready to go or only take a few minutes to prep. It makes fueling my body so much easier, even on the busiest mornings! To help make your busy mornings a little easier too, I rounded up some of my favorite gluten-free, dairy-free breakfast swaps made with wholesome ingredients!
ON-THE-GO BREAKFAST SWAPS: PROTEIN-PACKED
Amylu Chicken Breakfast Patties: These breakfast patties are made with chicken raised without antibiotics, contain no nitrates or nitrites and they’re fully cooked, so all you need to do is heat them up! So easy and they come in a couple of different flavors. There’s also an organic chicken version available at Costco!
Force of Nature Ancestral Blend Meatballs: Who says you can’t eat meatballs for breakfast?! I am honestly a huge fan of eating leftovers for breakfast! These meatballs are pre-cooked and ready to eat, making them so easy for busy mornings! They’re made with either grass-fed beef or chicken and a blend of organ meat for extra nutrients.
Vital Farms Hard Boiled Eggs: These eggs are pasture-raised and perfect for on-the-go since they’re already hard boiled and pre-peeled!
Applegate No Sugar Uncured Beef Bacon: This is Applegate’s newest innovation and I’m here for it! It’s bacon made with 100% grass-fed, pasture raised beef! Plus, there’s no added sugar and no nitrates or nitrites. PS: You can easily (and with little mess) meal prep bacon for the week by baking it on a parchment-paper lined sheet pan at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes 🥓I also love their turkey bacon!
Amylu Chicken Breakfast Links: These sausage links are also delicious from Amylu and are also available at Costco!
Applegate Breakfast Sausages: I love these sausages! They’re made with simple ingredients, have options with organic meat and come in either patties or links, with so many flavors to choose from. Just pop them in the air fryer or microwave for a few minutes and you’re good to go!
Cocojune Protein Yogurt: This Greek-style yogurt from Cocojune has 8-10 grams of protein per serving, depending on the flavor you choose! The Plain Unsweetened or Vanilla Unsweetened are my picks since they have no added sugar and a higher amount of protein.
Teton Breakfast Sausage Links: I love that these sausages are made with 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef! They also have minimal ingredients and are already fully cooked.
Diestel Turkey Burgers: These turkey burgers are so clean with only two ingredients and loaded with protein! They’re so easy to heat up in a skillet for a few minutes on each side or you can pop them in the broiler for a hands-off cooking approach. They’re perfect for breakfast sandwiches too!
Force of Nature Venison and Beef Patties: I love that these burger patties are made with only two ingredients (grass-fed venison and grass-fed beef) and one patty has a whopping 25 grams of protein! They’re already pre-formed so all you need to do is easily cook these up the night before or on a weekend for the week ahead!
ON-THE-GO BREAKFAST SWAPS: PANTRY STAPLES
*Note: Some of these pantry staples are higher in protein than others. Pair the lower-protein options with breakfast meat, eggs, yogurt or protein powder!
Rawr Bars: I’m addicted to these protein bars! They have 20 grams of protein, are dairy-free and made with organic ingredients. The blueberry flavor is the lowest histamine option and tastes like a blueberry muffin! Use code LESSWITHLAUR for a discount on their entire website!
MUSH Overnight Oats: These overnight oats are already prepped and ready to eat, making them perfect for breakfast on the go! They’re made with simple ingredients, a good amount of fiber and no added sugar.
Lovebird Protein Granola: This granola is organic, packed with plant-based protein, sweetened only with maple syrup and made with only six ingredients! I also love that Lovebird products are made in a dedicated gluten-free and allergen-friendly facility. Use code LESSWITHLAUR for a discount on their entire website!
Seven Sundays Sunflower Cereal: I love this cereal! It’s made with sunflower protein, naturally sweetened and made without grains or gluten. They also have a crispies cereal (the honey almond flavor is my favorite) made with sorghum flakes, as well as several other great products!
Rise Plant Protein Bars: This company makes whey protein bars, but they also make plant based bars with pea protein that are vegan and dairy-free with simple ingredients!
Simple Mills Soft Baked Almond Flour Bars: These bars have a soft baked texture, are gluten-free and grain-free and made with wholesome ingredients. The chocolate chips in these do have a little bit of cane sugar, but overall these are very clean! There’s also a Nutty Banana Bread flavor without chocolate chips!
Purely Elizabeth Superfood Instant Oatmeal: This is just like the instant oatmeal I loved as a kid, but with organic oats and quality ingredients! It’s also made with superfood grains and seeds for extra fiber!
Consider This Protein Bars: These protein bars are made with organic ingredients, are primary nut-free (great for nut allergies) and dairy-free. They’re also high in fiber and are intentionally crafted to be lower in histamine!
Kettle & Fire Bone Broth: If you’re really in a pinch for time and want something warm and high protein, you can heat up a bone broth latte! If you tolerate bone broth, this brand is one of my favorites! When I’m dealing with histamine issues I prefer reaching for Pacific Foods Organic Chicken Broth since it’s lower in histamine. If you go with chicken broth, I recommend blending in a scoop of Equip Unflavored Protein Powder for more protein! Use code LESSWITHLAUR for a discount on Kettle & Fire’s entire website!
Equip Prime Bars: These protein bars honestly taste like dessert and are so good! They’re made with real food ingredients like grass-fed beef protein (20 grams per bar), tallow, collagen, dates and honey. The Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Mixed Berry and Churro flavors are completely dairy-free! Use code LESSWITHLAUR for a discount on their entire website!
ON-THE-GO BREAKFAST SWAPS: MEAL PREP FAVORITES
*Note: Some of these meal prep favorites are higher in protein than others. Pair the lower-protein options with breakfast meat, eggs, yogurt or protein powder!
Simple Mills Muffin Mix: This muffin mix is made with nutrient-dense ingredients like almond flour and coconut flour and can be made into muffins or a loaf. You can even add protein powder into the batter to give them a protein boost!
Young Kobras Bread: This is my absolute favorite sourdough bread that I order occasionally! It has super clean ingredients. If you can find a gluten-free sourdough bread at a farmers market near you or make your own, that’s great also!
Bob’s Red Mill Paleo Flour: This is my favorite gluten-free flour to use in my baking! It’s perfect for whipping up into pancakes for the week ahead. I love this recipe with mashed sweet potato added in for extra nutrients!
Chia Seeds: These little seeds are packed with nutrients and make the easiest breakfast! You can whip them up into chia seed pudding, blend into a smoothie or stir into your yogurt.
Basil Seeds: These are very similar to chia seeds but have even more fiber and minerals. They also turn into a gel much quicker than chia seeds so they’re perfect for an on-the-go breakfast, like this basil seed pudding!
Siete Tortillas: These grain-free tortillas are so good and come in a variety of flour options. They would make delicious breakfast tacos or even breakfast-style taquitos!
Birch Benders Paleo Waffles: These toaster waffles are grain-free made with tigernut, cassava and coconut flour. These waffles aren’t perfect since they contain sunflower oil, but I don’t think that wellness has to be all-or-nothing. Overall, the ingredient list is much cleaner than conventional alternatives, so I think it’s absolutely fine to enjoy in moderation! To make these into a complete meal, you can prep these ahead of time into these waffle sandwiches!
One Degree Organics Sproated Oats: These oats are certified gluten-free and glyphosate-free through independent third-party testing. They’re also sprouted which makes them easier to digest. They would be perfect for making your own overnight oats to grab-and-go in the morning!
Roots Sweet Potato Toasts: These are genius! They’re organic sweet potatoes cut ¼” thick and perfect for toast! Just pop in the air fryer or oven for a few minutes and top with an egg or make into a sweet version with coconut yogurt and sunflower seed butter. They’re also great for toasting a few in advance for the week and then just heating up quickly for busy mornings!
ON-THE-GO BREAKFAST SWAPS: SMOOTHIE ESSENTIALS

Califia: I also love this brand for dairy-free milk. It’s made with simple ingredients!
