If you give the stock price a look, you’ll see what can only be described as the world’s best drilling action. Unlike most companies that go to zero I think Fervo is going to be something to watch even if the stock puts up highly undesirable return series for a long time. I have been short Fervo for a while, although it’s unfortunately not a big position. Building enduring structures underneath solid ground which produce dispatchable baseload electrical power ought to be the priority of countries seeking energy independence rather than startups that went public on NASDAQ.
I do still think if this things stock really falls apart it will have a chance to become a deceptively good turn around stock, but first I think we need to watch them spend every penny they have on equipment and inside the ground before dilutive round crushes the stock. It won’t be felt for some time for Fervo’s finances, but I do think it matters that they caught the eye of the Gates foundations wallet while there’s a massive data center boom happening. At a certain point it is almost expected that Azure ends up building alongside Fervo from the initial construction of power-hungry data centers.
