Hey, y’all! 💕 Come on in! Sit a spell.

If you’re new, welcome to my front porch. 🏡✨

I write stories that are easy to share—with grandmothers, daughters, and the women friends in between. Sweet, swoony, closed-door romances with heartfelt emotion, small-town roots, and happy endings you can count on.

Stories meant to be passed down. ☕

🤗 You’re in the right place.

💛 LOVE 💌

A few years ago, while helping my mother dig through one of her overstuffed closets, I found something I wasn’t looking for.

An Underwood typewriter. 🖋️

My writer’s heart skipped a beat.

The black case was cracked and flaking apart if I looked at it too hard.

But oh...

An Underwood.

🌱 LIFE

Now, don’t get me wrong. I have absolutely no desire to write my next novel on an old typewriter. 😄 I’ll happily keep my MacBook, thank you very much.

But my mother told me this Underwood had belonged to my grandfather. As best we can tell, it dates back to the late 1930s.

Then she told me something I’d never heard before.

He also owned a portable field Underwood with a little metal desk attached to it.

Imagine that.

He’d haul it out into the fields, sit beside a farmer, and type up oil lease agreements right there on the spot. 🛢️🖋️

No US Postal Service required. No Wi-Fi. No printer. No “I’ll email it to you later.” Just the clickety-clack of keys and a handshake.

When my mother passed away, and we began sorting through her house, each of us made a list of the things we’d like to keep.

The very first thing on my list? That Underwood.

Trust me, nobody else wanted it. It’s as heavy as a boulder. 😄 Bulky. Awkward. And certainly not practical. The field Underwood is only a breath lighter.😂

😂 LAUGHTER

Yesterday, it found where it belongs.

It’s now sitting on my grandfather’s desk, which has been in my office for several years.

Desk and Underwood reunited. 💛

It just seemed right. Not tucked into a closet. But sitting proudly on the desk where it belongs.

My grandfather used that typewriter to write oil leases.

I use my laptop to write novels.

Different tools.

Different words.

Different stories.

But maybe...

The same hope that the words we leave behind matter. 📚💛 And maybe outlive us.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what gets passed down.

Sometimes it’s furniture.

Sometimes china.

Sometimes recipes.

Sometimes stories.

And sometimes it’s simply permission to dream a dream of your own.

Maybe that’s why my novels are filled with heirlooms, legends, family traditions, handwritten letters, old recipes, and folks searching for where they belong.

Those are the things worth passing down. 💛

If you’re looking for stories filled with love, life, and laughter, I’d love to welcome you to Storybrook or Sweetheart, Texas. 🤠📚 Grab your Kindle... Or, if you’re like me, a good old-fashioned paperback. 📖☕

The rest of us will be sitting here on the porch talking about the things we’ve inherited. Anyone interested in a metal bedpan? 😄 Or perhaps… a frozen rump roast from 2003? Any takers?

With Love, Life, and Laughter (not always in that order),

Leanna 💛

From the Front Porch

Around here, we believe good stories are worth telling more than once. Here's one of my favorite blog posts from the front porch—especially if you've ever wondered whether "Bless your heart" was meant as a compliment... or not. 😉🤠

👉 Bless Your Heart (and other dangerous sayings)!

💬 What Our Friends Are Saying…

This week's smile comes courtesy of one of my favorite readers. Here's what she had to say about The Write Love.

🪑 Come Sit a Spell…

🎄 Christmas in July

If this summer heat has you longing for cooler days, I’ve got just the thing. Pour yourself a glass of sweet tea, turn up the air conditioning, and enjoy a little Christmas cheer with this collection of free holiday romances.

Time for me to get back to the Antique Roadshow, which is my mother’s house these days. Until next time, y’all...

💛 Some things are too precious to leave behind. May we treasure the stories, traditions, and people we’ve been given—and pass them on well. 💛

Come on over! 🏡✨
