If you don’t celebrate you, you won’t celebrate others. So, celebrating others’ successes requires leadership integrity defined by two traits: clarity about what you intend as an outcome, and behavior that aligns with that intention.

Let me unpack that….

To lead in a culture that celebrates, you must inspect your intentions, and then cultivate the other half of integrity: behavioral alignment with those intentions.

First, inspection: what are your intentions as a leader?

Try saying aloud, “I intend the members of my team / peers to…” and then add one of these eight endings:

  1. Strictly comply

  2. Feel secure

  3. Rapidly execute

  4. Grow and learn
