Another busy day as I headed to Alcatraz to take in some of the notorious island’s infamous history on my last day on the west coast of America, before flying 3,000 miles overnight from San Francisco to rainy Boston for England vs Ghana.
The next time someone tells me being a sports journalist is glamorous (it’s not in the slightest) I’ll tell them about the time I sat in Foxboro’s Dunkin Donuts, working in clothes I’ve had on for 24 hours, absolutely knackered after a 3,000 mile overnight flight from the west coast of America to the east coast, while drinking copious amounts of coffee to stay awake, while keeping an eye on my bags, as it lashed down outside…
With the clock ticking down to the Three Lions’s second World Cup match of the 2026 World Cup, every second counts, so, if you’ll forgive me once again, here’s my ‘show and tell’ of my memorable day at Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay…
