Frequently I meet writers who ask me about the return on investment from a $250 ads program. How much money will they make back?
When we are doing Facebook ads for some other clients, they are happy to spend $2,000 doing tests. That means testing ten different images and/or texts to find out which of them generates the most sales.
Which of these two approaches do you think wins out over the long term?
It doesn’t take a genius to work that one out. Of course the problem is that people see ads as expecting an immediate return, not as a marketing test to see what will happen when you run professional ads for a book and what way to pitch the book works best to get sales.
Ten ad tests is a good way to work that out and Facebook is the number one ad platform we recommend for fiction. That’s because when we run Amazon ads for fiction the return is less. Return on investment is often the key determinant of whether people want to stay with us as clients.
So when you’re buying a Facebook ad program or any ad program, please consider this.
And please remember what you’re up against, people who are willing to do ten tests to find out which aspect or pitch about thjeir book works best based on sales data not personal preferences.
Yes, we will give away a $500 ads campaign or credit towards services.
The closing date for this competition has been extended until Friday 7th August. That way we can announce the winner at our International Dublin Writers Festival the following weekend on the 15th of August.
Do you want to have your book announced at our festival? Do you want to win $500 in services?
The competition is about first lines.
Please use the comments below to post a first line. You can like anyone else’s first line that you think is good but not your own, please. The first line with the most positive comments/Likes, which also meets a general criteria for a great first line, will win.
There will be multiple opportunities during July to post your first line so please get it ready or comment now
