Are you coming down the finish line of summer feeling exhausted or overwhelmed? Jesus doesn’t want that for you. He invites you into a free and light life.

How do you get it? Here’s a start:

Pull out your calendar and pick one day each week you will intentionally find some sabbath rest.

Be creative!

Can you do this for three hours every Tuesday afternoon? Or four hours on Friday mornings? What does a rest from work look like for you? Putting down your phone? Closing your laptop? Painting or baking (solo, with your kids, with your spouse?)? Going on a long walk with a friend? Getting a babysitter.

Commit to getting 15 minutes more sleep each day.

This could be sleeping in 15 minutes later or going to bed 15 minutes earlier or getting an extra hour of sleep once every four days. Can you skip a show, cut down your screen time? How can you make this work?

Delete, delegate, or simplify one of your regular tasks.

Can you get carryout or make frozen pizzas one night a week instead of cook? Can you have your kids make their own launches or do their own laundry? Can you step back from something that used to be life-giving but is now exhausting–that committee you’re on, that event you’ve always planned? Jesus invites us to unforced rhythms of grace. He offers us real rest. A free and light life (Mt 11:28-30). But we have to take Him up on that offer and it starts with getting intentional about our time.

How will you intentionally let your soul catch up to your body this week?

Praying for your rest. xo, Laura
