Laura Kelly Fanucci · The Holy Labor

As an antidote to my AI rants, please enjoy this bird’s nest built on the neck of a Saint Francis statue we found in rural Minnesota yesterday. More of this, please.
  1. We need more Myrrhbearers. If you’ve never heard of them, my first article at Wonder Anew will introduce you to the ones we need today—and the myrrhbearers we’re called to become.

  2. Do You Know God or Know Of God? Claire the Catholic Feminist’s latest primer/rant/manifesto on prayer is a great back-to-basics if you’re feeling lost lately in the spiritual department.

  3. Check out this stunning painting from local artist Laura Kruchen that will accompany a prayer I was honored to write for a local summit of prayer, conversation, and advocacy. Thoughts, Prayers, & Action: The Catholic Call to End Gun Violence, will be held in Blaine, MN, on Sat. Aug. 8th. It’s free to attend, but get your tickets here (or donate to support).

  4. “Bless our hearts, when my husband and I had been married all of three months, we signed up to become a team couple with our local Engaged Encounter program…” What love teaches us about God, far beyond marriage.

  5. I never use AI in my writing, speaking, or preaching. Never (as evidenced by my recent rant against AI homilies). This striking essay from U.S. Catholic by a 17 year-old author speaks volumes on the real ethical and spiritual dangers of using AI for spiritual matters. I couldn’t agree more. What do you think?

A friend shared this recent post from author T.J. Power. Here’s another version on kid dopamine culture. Yes, it’s simplistic but also stark. Our technologies are changing our habits. Will they change what it means to be human?
