Hello and welcome back to The Digest. How’s it going? I know I say this every week but I have been so slammed lately. More so than usual. Three days in the office with the fragrance brand I’m freelancing for, an editorial deadline, a brand consulting deadline, a bunch of stuff in the pipeline for the newsletter. I somehow still managed to squeeze in a barre class and dinner with my friend Naz, a breakfast in Covent Garden, a solo trip to the Curzon in Bloomsbury and the train journey from hell.
I’ve powered through, though, and as usual I have a weekly roundup for you with shopping, culture, going out and talking points. (As I mentioned last week, while I’m doing this fragrance gig, newsletters may arrive slightly later than usual.) In this issue, you’ll find: bacon and cod’s roe rolls at St. John, a Chinatown go-to, what I’ve read and listened to lately about dating, sex and divorce, why I’m obsessed with The Invite (and three things to watch after, according to my film journalist friend Kitty), an upcoming screening with a director Q+A, interiors inspiration, the portfolio career advocates making a killing and two wellness retreat reviews I loved.
Nine things worth shopping this week
On the Tube the other day, I spotted a very well-dressed 20-something woman in a pair of black satin trousers and I realised that’s what my wardrobe is missing right now. These are from Arket. £119
It turns out Comme Si does so much more than socks. (Their socks are some of the best.) For example, these boxer shorts, which you can absolutely wear out. £77
I flit between cleansers and almost always end up going back to this ridiculously affordable one. But right now I’m liking The Inkey List Fulvic Acid Cleanser, which my sister gave me. It has an instant brightening effect but is also gentle enough to use over your eyes. £10.20 (originally £12)
Once you adopt packing cubes, you can never go back to the chaos of before. (Don’t know how I ever lived without them.) These from Globetrotter are the most gorgeous ones available, if you’re feeling fancy. (Otherwise, these from Muji are the ones I have.) £115 for medium
IMO Completedworks is one of London’s most interesting jewellery brands. The founder studied maths and philosophy. Their showroom on Lisson Street is exquisite. But also the actual pieces: always so cool. My latest crush is these earrings. £295
This silk camisole with the contrast edging is also from Comme Si and comes in a few colours. (I want everything on their website right now.) £267
I’m going to pretend that the A/W collections haven’t start trickling in and instead direct your attention this hammam-style beach towel from Tekla because last time I checked, it was definitely still summer. £95
This ruched Victoria Beckham dress has become a bit of brand signature. Personally, it’s one of my favourite things she’s made. This one in pistachio green is on sale. £345 (originally £690)
I’m eyeing up the entire Myrtille collection of reactive glaze plates and bowls and mugs from Westwing. Very into everything these guys are putting out at the moment. £159 for set of 12

Places and experiences worth leaving the house for
It feels like a crime in certain circles to say you’ve never eaten at the institution that is St. John. Now at least I can say I’ve had breakfast at their cosy wine bar offshoot in Neal’s Yard. Breakfast is a new thing here, and I went along on Wednesday for the launch event to try it out. Chia pudding and collagen smoothies this is not: the star dish is a bacon and smoked cod’s roe roll, which I had, and it was heaven. (They really don’t scrimp on the bacon.) Gorgeous food and gorgeous energy all round – the sort of spot to take a friend who’s visiting town. St. John Smithfield, you will be seeing me soon.
In other news, Jeremy Lee of Quo Vadis (an institution I have been to many times) is taking over the kitchen at Blue Stoops next week Tuesday. Jeremy is as wonderful a human as he is a chef and if you have the opportunity to eat his food and be in his presence, you should take it always.
