Hi everyone!
Okay, so these updates have not quite been quarterly - somehow it has been a year since my last one!! I am quite late on this one partially due to being (fortunately) quite busy! 2025 has been a year with many opportunities, all of which I am hugely grateful for. I also have some exciting new things coming I am thrilled to share!
During Art Basel Miami last year I had the privilege of meeting Andy Nelson, co-founder and curator of the Nelson Duni gallery in San Francisco, who now represent my work in that city! As a result, I will be showing work in two group exhibitions and mounting a solo exhibition (my first in the United States) all in the next 12 months. Many many thanks to Andy and his team for everything so far and in the future. 🚀
I have also recently begun a partnership with Layer, a company that makes insanely high quality LED displays for fine art galleries, museums, and private collections. I am pleased to say that Layer has commissioned a number of unique works (like Malformed) which will be available exclusively on their devices, along with a selection of my other works as well. You can also peep some of my art on their marketing reels and website 👀
This summer I had the opportunity to do some concert tour visuals for Adriatique, a world famous electronic music group. Here are a couple instagram clips:
Last year I did an interview with Blackdove, which was just published: https://2025.blackdove.com/post/lake-heckaman-on-generated-fluidity-and-organic-patterns
Earlier this year magazine Rock Badger interviewed me, which you can read here: https://www.rockbadgeragency.com/curated/lake-heckaman
Finally, here is a recent interview I did with Pier59 Studios, who hosted a recent exhibition I was asked to be a part of:
It can be hard to find time to create new original pieces while producing commissioned work, but so far this year I have managed to complete and exhibit these pieces (along with the 1,000 or so in various states of prototyping and development...)
You can find more information, context, renders and still images for all these works on my website:
Firmament - Exhibited as part of Sculpting Time at Pier59 Studios in June, thanks to NowMedia and Projekt.______ for the invitation
In Living Memory - Created from a series of Gaussian splats I captured at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens this spring. Exhibited in Rome at Studio26
Pollination - Included as part of my upcoming group show at Nelson Duni in October
Insubstantial - New generative work, not yet exhibited
Epochs (Layer) - Generative work running in the browser. Layer commissioned work.
Malformed (Layer) - Generative work running in the browser. Layer commissioned work
Through the Looking Glass - at the invitation of Berlin New Media Art Week, I created a 10 minute audio visual journey which was screened at the bdome in Berlin
Node Institute Summer Session courses on Advanced GLSL in TouchDesigner
University of Udine in Udine, Italy where I was a guest lecturer at the Masters of Digital Philosophy program
I still find it pretty hard to plan more than a couple months out, but here is what I know so far! Taking all calls for interesting exhibitions, residencies, and commissioned work.
