Paul reminds us as he did with the church of Ephesus, that we were (past tense) spiritually dead but because of God’s great mercy, love and the free gift of Grace for those that came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, are now alive to God. For those who do not have a saving faith Christ, they can receive God’s free gift of grace.
